I am expecting my chickens on the 17th sept,really need to know where to buy food near to chandlers ford,or anyone who has chickens in chandlers fordtoo.

If you find a animal supplier store they will normally order you stuff in, that is what I did, told them I wanted Allen and Page feed, now I phone them when I am running short and they tell me they will order it and to come and collect it

A lot of equestrian stores also supply chicken supplies. We get our food etc from our local equestrian store. Ours is great as orders things in for us if we want things they don't usually stock

That's Hampshire - Southampton way! Well, I know where it is, but not sure about where to get food etc. I'm near Oxford, but am often in Southampton and area.

 

It's expensive to get things by post but convenient. I would think you would have an equestrian store or a Countrywide or even a Pets at Home. The latter has only basic supplies e.g Layers Pellets but not much else I find. We have an animal store called Seeneys which will get things in for me- you may be able to find somewhere similar.

 

Also nearish to you is Chalk Hill Poultry ( Fordingbridge actually so not next door) I'm going there for more chickens in a couple of weeks and have spent a lot of time talking to Nick who owns it.

Tricia, do you get your bedding from them by any chance? I use them for food but hadn't thought to ask if they would order bits in? - I can't find aubiose or similar locally anywhere.

I live in Botley - not too far away.

 

We buy our layers pellets from Botley Mill, also mixed corn.

Our chickens are uusally on bark or wood chippings - we don't have any problem with it and usually buy that from B&Q!

 

Our chickens live in a cube - we used to use shredded paper in our nesting box but a couple took to eating it, so now we use straw which also comes from Botley Mill.

 

I usually buy Bokashi Bran from Wiggly Wigglers website.

Ooooooooohh lucky you Chalk Hill poultry( 4 miles from Cranborne) is fantastic!

I got all my eggs and chooks from there

Sometimes I just go and visit it's so relaxing and a real tonic for chook lovers

All the fertile eggs I bought from there have 100% hatched; Nick took back my cockerels for me and kept my blue leghorn boy so I pop along to see him and all ones I purchased as young chicks (some just a day old) have been predicted accurately as girls

 

In fact may have to go again soon (with a box in the back of the car........just in case)
