Sweetcorn Swingball...!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

My OH put in a raw sweetcorn cob in the run - he drilled this through the middle and then stringed it up and tied it on the top of the run, so that the corn swings down - hence the swingball reference.

Does anyone do this - if not I would seriously recommend it.

My two ladies can't wait for this to be put up (although it only lasts about 5 minutes).

Watching 2 gingernut rangers with their heads swinging backwards and forwards is just the funniest thing I have seen in weeks. :D

I hang lots of food stuff on string, and Sometimes just out of reach so they have to flap and jump to get it.

Another thing I like to do, is after I clear out the old Aubiose, I sprinkle corn, mealworms and such on the ground and then spread the new Aubiose on top :D The chickens seem to love that too :D

I put out corn for the first time yesterday .. I was hoping they would take it from my hand but no luck .. so i put it in their " treats bowl" it was there about half an hour. I thought they didn't like it, then skitty had a look, and cos she was intrested George had to look too, and in 10 minutes two large cobs were gone ... £1 from the supermarket and worth it to see their happy faces. ( cant wait until mine ready)

Talking of play things .. i put a bit of food in the wheelborrow they love hopping into that to see whats in there, and i leave a up turned bucket in the garden they like to just stand on that ... like " i'm the king/ queen of the castle ,lol

Guess who is going to be getting a swing now  Sounds like you have started a trend there!

It makes me laugh how they love to play - one of our girls loves my kids garden toys and is always sitting in the Cozy Coupe car or climbing up to the top of the toddler slide. Their best game is playing tea with my boys, they fill up little toy cups with water and the girls come and have a cuppa with them :D

We hang up food in theirrun from a metal stick - they sell them for parrots in Pets at Home - where you can put the metal rod through the corn/apple and then it attaches onto the a chain that we hang up and like you said they love it.

We also use the treat balls and I put in layers of greens - so put in some parsley in the middle wrapped in lettace and then squeeze loads of chard around that, so they get a bit of a suprise the more they peck at it.

Hmmm they are beginning to sound very spoilt
