Sheilaz
For a friend; Friend is used to downloading an internet page by right clicking with the mouse. What on earth do you do on a Mac please?
Old Speckled Hen
Do you mean saving a page already open? In which case if using Safari or Firefox clicking on FILE will give you a drop down menu. Does that help?

Does that help? Yes, thats what I mean. Will suggest that, thanks. Up until now I've only suggested reading the instructions...didn't go down well. Thanks OSH! Will report back later in day. Old Speckled Hen
PS That will save it as a web archive. If you want to save as a pdf then file/print/pdf
Sheilaz
Thanks. Turns out I'm lost already. It wasn't just an open page (but that was useful to know how to do that too); the page has a list of many different files that can be downloaded. On the relevant file, it says right click to download. Don't know what to suggest. It is Safari, by the way.
Old Speckled Hen
Right Click with Trackpad - Hold two fingers on the trackpad while you use the click button Scroll through pages a la Scroll Wheel with trackpad - Place two fingers on the trackpad and move them up to scroll up, and down to scroll down. Works horizontally as well.
Sheilaz
Well, I emailed that to him, but in the end he found a great solution; Came & used this old PC! Thank you so much for giving those ideas, I hope he'll try them. At least he's stopped grumbling now.
Geoid
Buy a mouse with 2 buttons (left and right click) or hold down the control key and click, this is the same as right clicking. Edited September 3, 2009 by Guest
Geoid
Right Click with Trackpad - Hold two fingers on the trackpad while you use the click button. That doesn't work on mine...strange.
PurpleTree
I think you might have to set something to allow you to do that. Hubby's set mine up so I can
Old Speckled Hen
Open System Preferences. Select Keyboard & Mouse in the second row. Click the Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click check box Close the dialog box. Using two fingers, tap the trackpad and the right-click (or context) menu opens or you can rest two fingers on the trackpad while clicking. Geoid
Of course! I had forgotten I had disabled that

But, I have learned a lot, even if LSH (for it is he) refuses to, thanks for your patience OSH. Ah, thanks Fred, he might manage that, let's see. Flo
I think the other thing you can do is hold the Ctrl key while you click the mouse and you get the same effect??
Happy-Mama
I think the other thing you can do is hold the Ctrl key while you click the mouse and you get the same effect?? Yes that works, that's what I do. I didnt know about the two fingers resting on the scroll pad and then clicking how does it know you have two fingers resting (it doesnt work with one or 3)
PurpleTree
because it's clever. It's the same when you scroll up and down the page using 2 fingers. 1 finger just moves the cursor, 3 or more it does nothing.
Sheilaz
Thanks Flo, Fred mentioned that earlier & I told an impressed LSH! Thanks everyone! Mmmm, clever these mice, aren't they?
