I am looking into getting some friends for our CoF Blossom now her leg mites seem to be under control ......do any bantam hens, particularly Pekins....lay coloured eggs?

 

I am so of Space Chicks lovely array of colours

I just set some bantam eggs not very long ago, the polands eggs were white I think and so were some of the silkies (although they are officially large fowl)

 

I think Pekins always lay a cream egg

 

I guess a small version of a breed that exists as large fowl such as Welsummer and Araucana may lay the same colour egg as their larger counterparts

 

Apart from Janty's blue egg laying hybrid bantam I havent heard of much other variation

Oh well, looks like I'll be waiting & getting some coloured layers next year then Blossom needs friends more than I need coloured eggs

Out of my six bantams (pekins, silkie and Frizzle) I have been getting cream and pink tinted eggs.

 

Don`t ask me who lays what as laying seems to be a communal affair in the Palmer Bantam Household cos if one goes up the ladder they all go up. Half hours silence, then ten mins of communal "I've laid an egg!", "she`s laid an egg!", "oooh look, she`s laid an egg!" song echos around the cube

Sha, my Cream Legbar Leela who laid me my beautiful Blue egg yesterday is a small girl for a large fowl, so I think you could get away with one with some Bantams. Just a thought

Yep, I can back up Debs. My Cream Legbar Saffy is a tidler too. I often loose her but that is cos normally she is standing behind her sister, Brandy, the rather robust Buff Orp.

I've seen 'Bantam' Araucana eggs for sale on Ebay - also Bantam or minature Maran eggs, too, just to give you some idea of what's out there.

Oh dear.....so many choices...so little space....not sure DH would be easily convinced that another cube is a good idea as I'd probably want to have one of each......plus the Pekins and Frizzle Pekins that I hanker after already............... I can hear Prudence & Patience knocking on the front door...perhaps I should run & hide

I've fallen hook line & sinker for Liquorish Andrew's (atsw?) frizzle baby.........he's adorable..........and Craftyhunniepie's Spongebob is seriously cute too.DS wants to buy me some Frizzles for my 40th, bless him !!

Cream Legbars are small birds that lay blue eggs - I could see them living with bantams OK.

little bros banties are coming back into lay after they arrived post broodiness....ALL SIX OF THEM!

 

And I get cream and pale pink eggs

Araucana bantams lay blue eggs but can fly veryyy well! Welsummer bantams are pretty but very rare and only lay bog standard eggs due to breeding and maran bantams lay dark brown eggs.
