Crikey - I am sure I have started a thread with this title before about my daughter

(her name is Devon!)

Anyhow, go to Dartmouth if you can. Its a pretty little town with beautiful views. I think there is a food festival coming up there soon.

Take the ferry over to Kingswere & see the lovely old steam train too 8)

We go to North Devon every year with extended family and have a lovely time but we do lots of walking during the day and ahem a bit of drinking in the evening.:D

I agree with ClaireG - Lynton and Lynmouth, if you're into a beautiful river walk then the Riversmeet walk ending in the National Trust cafe before turning round and walking back (last October sat outside with Cookie eating bowl of soup whilst it was hailstoning  ). We do lots of different walks each time we are down there but this one is a popular one that we all feel we have to do. Time before last OH, YS and I did a 6 mile walk in the morning and met the others to do this little walk in the afternoon.

There are some nice walks around 'Lorna Doone Valley' as well with a really nice tea shop. In the gift shop attached I bought my nice cockerell door stop. The lady in the shop had just picked up some ex-batts a day or so before so we had a lovely chicken chat. :D

The big sheep is also a family must do every year. The kids (big and small) love the slides, we get to have a sit down and chat and then watch the sheep shearing or dog trials. They have a laser combat thing there as well which everyone enjoyed.

Dartington Crystal is also good, you can watch them make glass objects. Combe Martin is good for rock pooling. Dinosaur Park in Combe Martin also a good one.

Wonderful cornish pasties from a shop in Woolacombe as well.

42 days or so and counting...... :D:D

Watersmeet is beautiful http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-watersmeet. I've not been in the cafe, just loved the waterfalls along the way. There is also Dunster; the village and the castle. There is a steam railway that goes from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead http://www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk/ My aunt used to have a holiday house in Watchet and the train ran along the bottom of her garden. Watchet is a nice place to go to.
