chooksy
Hi, My hens have the snuffles and I was recommended (thank you) on a previous post to use Citricidal. Well, it arrived today - how much do I put in there water? I use the Glugs - how many drops should I use? Also, I've heard quite a few people mention garlic - how do you give this to them if that doesn't sound silly?! Many thanks!
Redwing
Citricidal isnt 'medicinal' so you cant overdose them but too much makes the water bitter so there is a fine fussy hen line to tread there I put a few drops in Garlic - you can put a clove of garlic in the water but hens tend to fish it out and throw it aside or more worryingly eat it I use powdered garlic from horsey food shops, a tub lasts ages, a couple of teaspoonfuls in the grub will be fine

chooksy
Thanks for your replies. I put the Citricidal in yesterday - its like glue isn't it?! We have an equine shop nearby so will pick up some garlic powder on my rounds at the weekend.

Valkyrie
Yes mine will avoid the good stuff and drink the most vile looking water available. I keep telling them that they are supposed to have fresh water daily and not the semi dried out rain puddle dirt stagnant concoction that they find in the teasel leaves. alex_m
Did it help? One of mine has a runny nose and seems to sneeze or cough. So have just ordered some
Saronne
I had to take 2 of my hens to the vet's on Friday due to sniffles and a 'rattle' in their throats. They were off their food, too. The vet has given them a course of Baytril and so far it has worked wonders. I have ordered some citricidal for the rest of the flock just in case. alex_m
My girl's sneezing/coughing and runny nose have cleared up this morning. I'm very puzzled but relieved
