chickenNutter
Rats! Must stop having that glass of Pinot Grigio before I go on this forum. It definitely impairs my typing ability! Sorry everyone!
abwsco
Kate, haven't been to Happy Chicks as I know we'd want some more so it would hack us off. As you haven't pm'd me Stannah Horse Feeds are the place who do free delivery.
chick wiggle
Just get him (if you can) to give them a handful of spaghetti, one strand at a time, and see him giggle at their antics! Worked a treat on my OH
Ain't Nobody Here
I think my OH is fond of rather loves my girlies . He's supported the whole venture (and paid for it ) and does put the feeders out every morning but he's definitely not obsessed and besotted like I am He, too, never had a pet as a child but he loves our dog Riley (more than me I suspect ). Oscar the hamster has a little furry place in his heart too .
Egluntyne
Mine hasn't a clue. He is vaguely aware that we have a few hens at the bottom of the garden, and they have gone from being 'your *bleep* chickens to *our chickens* which is progress of a sort I suppose. C&T
My OH was very anti chickens. Took me years to convince him to get them (I even had to marry him!!). It was friends who eventually conned him into agreeing! He now loves them. Talks to them. Worries about them. I no longer get picked up from the station etc, as if he is at home with the chickens out and they are enjoying themselves free ranging, he says it would be a shame to put them back in just to collect me.... He feeds them more treats then is good for them, and spends hours in the garden digging up worms for them! But who cleans them out, worms them, de-lices them etc?? Oh yes, that would be me!! (But I do love 'em too!!! )
Seagazer
My OH was never too bothered about me having chickens and we have all the jokes come out about cooking them when they stop laying when friends or family come over but on the quiet he goes out and gives them treats and talks to them. He's used to living in a zoo at home so I think that helps and its me thats stopping us from getting any more chickens at the moment
fluffyknickers
My husband has no interest in the chickens at all. I just accept it now! Lately he has helped me a little more with things like cleaning out and getting the cube dismantled and the new eglu in but he wont touch them, feed them etc. If I ask him he will collect eggs but wont automatically do it he has to be asked nicely. He will never be in to them and its just the way it is. He isnt that in to the dog either but a coming around a little bit but I do all the feeding, buying stuff, brushing and most of the walking. Just not an animal man, shame he got me then who loves animals! michelle
Plum
My OH now loves my girls and they love him (with grapes or sweetcorn in his hand) but he feels bad about them being in the run all the time and I think he would rather I didn't have them. They do make you feel cruel when they pace the door. He had no interest or love of chickens before but the girls won him over with their daft antics so just give him time. Old Speckled Hen
Hubby is a country lad. Chickens are eaten, they lay eggs and cockerels crow. SIGH. He will feed them when I am away but I suspect that he keeps them in the run rather than letting them out into the garden. In an effort to integrate them into the family I suggested he and his grandson name the first two while the third was called after his mum. They got called Sabre after his best mate's dog and Kylie after well, Kylie M
