cluckingmad
Yay! My little girls are now in the Big Girls Run, carefully segregated from the big girls by way of a sheet of weld mesh cable-tied to the mesh of the WIR They went in just before bedtime this evening, so the big girls really weren't interested in anything other than going to bed.. Pepper was curious about her new neighbours, but the little ones just got on with eating and snuggling together And after about 30mins, my lovely hubby-to-be went out with a torch to find all 4 littlies snuggled up together, under their food hopper (awwwwwwwww!). 15mins of shining a torch into their cat carrier/make-shift coup did the trick and Lilly let the way into the coup (obviously more cosy and less drafty than under the hopper)... Freckles followed, then Pumpkin and finally Nutmeg decided that being outside alone was no fun so in she pootled... all 4 now tucked up and sleeping soundly And tomorrow morning, I will be out there at the crack of dawn to make sure all is well and no-ones jumped over into the wrong side of the divide to cause mayhem

cluckingmad
Popped out before work to check on things - bit of a mexican standoff currently (6 big hens one side of mesh, 4 smaller ones on t'other, all watching each other), threw in some corn and all was peace and happy pecking Will get pics up later, promise! cluckingmad
thanks To be honest, it had only just been cleaned prior to the newbies going in... and that weld mesh is vicious stuff! Am currently nursing several rather nasty scratches/gashes on arms due to dearest OH letting go of the wire at the wrong moments

cluckingmad
Oh, you have no idea how much I wanted to get home early yesterday to make sure they were all ok ! didn't get in till 6.30 in the end, OH met me with a lovely cuppa so we spent the rest of the daylight hours watching them all ranging happily together - total bliss! And they all took themselves off nicely to bed without any nastiness at all Think we'll leave the mesh in place for a couple of weeks till the little ones are a bit bigger before integrating them fully tho'
