Chookiehen
According to the Scottish news, the editor of the Scottish Sun isn't following suit, and won't be changing the papers allegiances. I don't get it - do people actually follow what newspapers say like sheep, and change their political opinions because the page three girl is wearing a blue rosette instead of blue?! Cinnamon
I think its more if a case of buying the paper that has the same political views as you. As the Torys are ahead in the polls, maybe this is The Suns way of upping their circulation?

Old Speckled Hen
Nooooooooo The sun is an entertainment and as a newspaper long may it live BUT strangely enough it HAS been a fairly accurate barometer of our political situation. I read the Torygraph and I refuse to duck my head when I say that. The best "news" paper in the world is probably The National Enquirer . At least you can't argue with its politics

Old Speckled Hen
I agree with Cinnamon, they've definately said that to up their circulation figures But where would that extra circulation come from? It's three million already. Well ahead of any other paper. I can hardly see any Grauniad reader moving to a red top simply because it loves Dave. Most important is that the readership of a paper such as The Sun WILL be swayed in the short term and the right story pitched at the right time just before an election WILL have a significant effect. It's the sun wot won it headline from April 1992 is a testament to that. The headlines the day before were, 'If Kinnock wins today will the last person to leave Britain please turn out the lights" I can see Gordon substituted for Kinnock can't you? Valkyrie
Eh? I thought Stalin was the name of our unelected leader down the u-bend. Haven't seen the Sun for years - the boys at work always loved page 3 - but the horrible thought of Dave on that page will keep me awake for ages tonight! I loved the Beano - they have done things to Dennis though - evil things - turning him into Cuthbert they are!

henriette
We don't buy the newspapers over here, but dip into which ever one we fancy on the internet. Can we believe anything they print any way? I do think that sadly people are swayed by the press - load of lemmings aren't we. What is good about the forum though is that you get other peoples views on subjects which is far more interesting and helpful. Oh and by the way, anyone out there a School Friend or Girl reader all thoses years ago? I did enjoy Dandy and Beano too though.
Valkyrie
I used to have June and Schoolfriend. Also Mandy, Bunty, Lady Penelope, Dandy,Beano, Topper, Sparky, then got stuck into football and had Goal (which I think was joined with Shoot eventually and it wasn't so good). I had Rodney Marsh in my bedroom for years (and you thought he was in Florida didn't you lads! ).
Janty
The Sun is a newspaper never bought by any member of our family. Full of lies and prejudice. No amount of backtracking and fake apologies will make what they said about the Liverpool supporters at Hillsborough go away. My neighbour works in a recyling plant and brings us newspapers. I can't even bring myself to put The Sun in the poop trays...it's so low.
