This is good What they tell the vets ... I would love the opportunity to help [people] who need medical attention, should they need it ... because it gets the need/want thing across, and shows you don't just rush around and do what you think is best but tak on board the opition of the owner/animal, or in your case the patient

Sheilaz
Well, I have a day off work as I'll be there all w/e. It's set aside to tackle our house as it is in danger of being suitable for a Kim & Aggie type programme. Plus paperwork etc. As you can see, I'm making good progress..... I haven't been able to see the webcam, and today the page won't even finish opening.

Sheilaz
Thanks, but I popped over there to check! I get everywhere. Er, except near the housework. Thanks for link, I can order replacement parts & try again with the old drinker! Please could you describe how you fill the drinker. I could never get the valve set correctly & gave up. Now I wonder if it was a faulty display item (sold at Game Fair). Or, just me, but I couldn't risk leaving it for the hens. Would like to reinstate though. I found that either I couldn't get it filled without water pouring out. Or, once full, the bowl didn't get refilled once they had drunk some. I fiddled with the valve for ages, I just couldn't make it effective for filling the tank, nor for dripping the water down. How do you have valve to start filling the drinker from empty. Then what? Hope you have time for these dim questions Debs, it would be so useful to have the big drinker working.
Space Chick
Ok, it does take a bit of practice. You push up the valve before you fill it. Once you have filled it and have put the cap back on the vacuum effect can take place. What you then need to do it pull the valve down a bit so water can come out (not too far though otherwise it won't push the ball back up to seal it when the level is right). Once the bowl is full it will float the ball up to the valve, then when the level drops the ball drops back down and it fills again. Quite clever really. However you must always push the valve up before opening the cap, as I learned to my cost, as that removes the vacuum and you get soaked You also get very stroppy chickens as they are walking in the water, looking indignantly at you! Sheilaz
Thanks Debs, I wonder if I just had a faulty valve. Will get a new one & replace perished seal, and try again! Just wanted to know if someone had used them successfully & you have. Thanks for that! Hello Purpletree & other crazy peeps! OK, I'll get on with the decluttering now. (When I've had another coffee, obviously). Get packing now, hope you have a lovely time.

Been there...got soaked!!! I don`t do it like this and have had problems with my bowl overflowing. I thought this was cos it wasn`t level but sounds like I have been doing it wrong all this time Guess what I am doing tomorrow! PurpleTree
We're going to Harrogate to visit the in-laws. Having a month late 50th birthday party for mother-in-law, might be combined with an early 5th birthday party for Danny. Haven't done any packing yet, but I have emptied the washing machine and filled the clothes horse. Not been very organised this time, haven't been paying attention to what the kids have been wearing and what needed to be kept clean to take away. So I'm hoping they've got enough clothes. Olly's also started wearing pants most of the time, so we've gone through a few more trousers than normal.
