dippy bird
They didn't take long to have a good nosey around, and also wind the originals up by going right up to the wire of the big run and poke their beaks inside - almost like sticking their tongues out and saying na na na na na - look at us!!! Egluntyne
Smashing pics. I opened the door of my girls run, and they just stood there, not knowing what to do. I've closed it again now, as no-one ventured out. I didn't want to scare them by poking sticks to make them go out. There will be plenty of time I dare say. They are mesmerised by the other hens, who are circling and trying to look nonchalant.
dippy bird
My OH had picked Elsie out to give the others a break from her bullying, but on seeing her outside,Hilda wanted to get out as well, so in the end we let all four out - they seemed really happy, and even had a bit of a scratch about. Was really funny seeing them square up to the originals through the wire of the run, Judy was not a happy hen at all and puffed herself out and tried to peck at them through the wire - then Betty Margaret and Aggie joined in leaving Maud watching from the sidelines. I have to say, the ex bats didn't back down - clearly tough cookies!!

cluckingmad
they are tough little girls aren't they? remember someone tellnig me when I first got my ex battys that they'd spent all their lives to that point fighting for every s"Ooops, word censored!" of food and pecking each other at there was nothing else to occupy them... our exbatts rule the roost! veggiemad
beautiful pictures. I must say, they look very healthy ex batts- must have been a fairly good farm. Ours are still bald from the wing down and we've had them 5 weeks, but are feathering well and enjoying the extra meal worms! x

cluckingmad
Dippy bird - where did you get your exbatts from? Just wondering is theres a rescue nearer to us than south birmingham..! Am currently trying to persuade my lovely OH that we simply NEED more chooks. Not want, need... he's not buying it currently, but given time...
