Dappy Chick
My friend put an egg in the airing cupboard (just to keep the kids amused for 20 days) and was amazed that there was a chick inside one of the eggs -she didn't think for a second that it would work. So a week before it was due to hatch she brought it to me to put under one of my broody hens (as she was going away for 4 weeks). He is a super little Pekin boy and he will be 11 weeks old this weekend. My friend wants to collect him and 4 girls that are a few weeks older than him this weekend. The only thing I am worried about is that he is such a cling on to his mum. If I seperate them at the weekend will both Mum and chick be OK or would it be cruel to do it now? Redwing
He will be fine, I am surprised his mum is still putting up with hom, normally they lose interest at about 7 weeks I would separate him on the day he goes, mum and son will only get stressed if they can hear each other in your garden
Dappy Chick
I must have a right bunch of softies its only the bunch of 14 week kids that are showing any signs of being seperated from their mums! All the rest are sticking with mums by hook or by crook!

Dappy Chick
Perhaps it is me that has made them into a right bunch of soft lads I am so soft, if I find one that has strayed from Mum and seems to be getting stressed I pick it up and go and find Mum and put them back together Must be me that has made them that way!!!!
