Guest
I never make New Years Resolutions - we make Mid Year Resolutions instead - I find it so much easier to start and maintain new habits when the weather is brighter, and the days longer, than in miserable January when the weather is depressing, and the days so short. Do try and become a blood doner though, my MIL works for the Scottish Blood Transfusion Service, and they always seem to be running low on supplies. My new years resoloution is to take each day as it comes and not worry about the future so much Also learn how to cook better There are probably going to be more but i can't think of them yet... I can never keep them anyway....
Cate in NZ
No New Years Resolutions as such, but I do have a little list of things that I'd like to achieve. 2007 looks like being a big year for us, lots of things look as if they could finally come together, so I'm just hoping that everything goes to plan, and that it's a successful year . Actually, just remembered, every year for ages I've said that I'm going to go to Leeds Castle (just a few miles down the road from here) and Hampton Court Palace (which is a bit further away, but still not exactly far) and I never actually go..... this year I will (but not until the weather's improved in the Spring or Summer ). Here are a few things I would like to achieve in 2007 Learn to make soup (I am hopeless at soup) Become a blood donor Move to a house with a bit more garden Put on weight Today I gave my first pint of blood Easy peasy and something I should have done a long time ago. What a wait I had though. I was at the town hall for 3 hours Next time I will take a book to read. Had a very nice cup of juice afterwards and 4 shortbread fingers

It isn't often we can do something for nothing that really benefits people, I'm always trying to convince people they ought to give blood (if they are able to) When you get your reminder letter through for your next blood donation session there will be a phone number on it which you can ring to book an appointment - should prevent a three hour wait! I didn't make any new year resolutions - other than to take steps to feel better about myself (physically and mentally), could be a long process
Looney
......just had a thought......I'm guessing the blood donation process is the same in Scotland as in England.....if not, you may not be able to book appointments.....

You can book appointments up here as well! Well done on giving blood Ali - I'm not allowed now, as I had a blood transfusion when I had Duncan, which rules me out now. buffie
No resolutions but a few goals. I am going to attempt to NOT check work things on the weekend and to find time to relax more this year. I c an't give blood as my veins collapse but it's so worthwhile BBx

Looney
Learn Pilates I started Pilates lessons last September at our local college and have enjoyed every lesson so far, so I can definitely recommend it. I love it because, although it can be a bit slow to get going and into the swing of the breathing, I feel soooo good after a lesson . You don't get hot and sweaty (thank goodness ) but still feel like all your muscles have had some attention. The stretches really hit the spot especially after a day sat at a desk! It is great for relaxation and an hour of controlled movement and breathing does wonders to relieve the stresses of the day. (I'm not on commission honest!). AnnieP
I'm exactly the same as you Lorna: I have a personal trainer on Monday nights (he has just gone: He nearly kills me and I hate it, but he is rather handsome and "fit" so worth sticking with ), then Tuesday nights I go to Pilates. Started in Sept, and it stretches me, and gets rid of all the aches and pulls from my Monday night. I come out feeling a foot taller, and my posture (which is really bad) is improving, I am sure! Go for it Clare, and sign up quick, as I had to wait 4 months to get into a class. Good instructors nearly always have a waiting list....
