This was an ex free range egg girl in really dire condition at Rescue.

this is her story

she only weighed 980 gm's, is skin & bones, totally traumatised & a bit of a mess to say the least, she is called Veronica.

So: I hand fed Felicity for a few days as she so dreadful she couldn't / wouldn't eat, now she's eating for herself & is up & about after nearly two weeks, so she is out in the shed in a little jumper, happy as larry in her new world with her friends. So this week I've started worming the four of them who are in together.

I come home to this out of her bum I say out of her bum, because, she's the ex free ranger,& it was up on a high shelf in a poo, where she can go for a chill out moment on her own if she needs to, two of the others can't get up there, as they are disabled, so it's either her or Felicity, but I left a grey coloured Veronica today & came home to a pink one!

I've never in my life seen anything like this out of any of my ex batts before.

it's about 6"s long & as fat as a pencil, it's as big as Veronica

Flubenvet really does work. It turns out to be (look first)

O M G ..............that is horrendous.....so far I have never seen worms in any of my girls poos even whilst Flubing them...am I not giving them a strong enough dose I wonder...........

I have but not like that. gross wasn't it!

usually like thin spaghetti.

reckon that is bad enough.

possibly more to do with where the girls are when they poo and you don;t know when they will appear maybe.

saw my 1st live poo last week, that was creepy enough!

no it was not alive, it was flubenvet worked.... hence expelled

It was not a lash it has been diseccted by parisiltology & identified.!!!!

It was TWO MATING inside poor Veronica. (sorry didn't cut and paste that bit!)

An Avian Vet now has it to show clients "the importance of worming"

update a day or so ago

Veronica was weighed last night again & she has put on another 70 gm's, so now the "happy couple" are no more she is hopefully managing to absorb all of her food intake.

980gm's two weeks ago, 1.070kg's last night

When "E" says in future "have you wormed recently?" I want to see/hear a resounding "YES!!!!!!!!!" (and with Flub "! )

I'd say its a good thing you haven't seen any as that means they haven't got worms and the flub. is working stopping the worm eggs hatching.

well, that IS why we do it isn't it. because unless we send samples off for testing we can't tell, unless they get ill, and we want to avoid the avoidable

You shouldn't really ever see live or adult worms in poo if you are regularly worming. You will generally only see them it you have a big problem.

"WE" would expect better of free range farmer wouldn't we?

Even battery chooks can be released with worms.

I will ask at what age free rangers are normally culled(or rescued)

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Have seen a thin spagetti type worm in poo before when one of our hens was very poorly and run down, but never anything so big... poor little veronica!!
