Well I sat watching X factor & crocheting the flat circle - for the body of the birdie.

However, I thought I knew how to do it & didn't folow the pattern. I now have a wonky cirlcle that looks more like a flower, because I have been going round doing 2 half trebbles in every stitch. I should have done....1, 1, 2. Oops!

 

I have folded in half & I think I can salvage it into a very 'U' shaped birdie.

 

I shall do a proper one after I've ate my bowl of stew.

 

Serves me right for being a showy off know it all!

my first attempt, as a new crocheter i find shaping hard so the circle wasn't flat bit U shaped like Emmas lol . The wings are too big as the bird was smaller and a big dodgy shape too oops and the colours were what i had lying around lol

 

like the flowers though

Yeah I think I've seen those about, quite common round here

I have one made, but my wings are dodgy! Perhaps I could cut shapes from felt instead?

maybe it's been rough handled and it's wing got damaged?? like the key with wings in harry potter??? I have a birdie hospital here *big fat lie* ... :lol: I love those ickle birds so much.

I fear though if I show my mum that pattern she might spontaneously combust. she only does squares

I've started on a robin too - no wings needed there - phew!
