chickencam
I have had this virus with achey muscles etc, and this evening I have been coming out in a hives type rash. It started on my wrists, then my waist, and is now all up my arms and tops of my legs, and on my torso. Anyone else had this? Off to bed now with some Piriton, hoping to get some sleep. Redwing
That doesnt sound too good, Could you maybe be allergic to any flu medication or painkillers you are talking? At risk of frightening you have you done the tumbler test on the rash? (run a glass over it and see if it disappears, if it doesnt contact a doc) Sorry you feel bad x
Valkyrie
A few years ago my friend had the same thing - she went to the doc and apparently it was her body having an allergic reaction to a virus that she had had. Weird definitely. I can't remember what was prescribed though - may be a similar thing to you. Check with your doc if the Piriton doesn't help. Egluntyne
My son had similar when he was tiny, and the rash came and went several times. As Koojie suggests, it was an allergic reaction to a virus. He had to go into hospital for three days as he was rather poorly. I'd go to your GP ( or get her/him to visit!) just to be on the safe side.
chickencam
The rash is less 'nettle sting' like this morning, but still red. I feel ok, well as ok as you do when you are getting over a virus YD has had similar symptoms, minus the rash so far. She is ok but off school and has her 11+ tomorrow. I have got to decide if we need to defer her exam until the alternative date of next Friday which is also her birthday. Going on how she was yesterday I think she will take it, but she is still asleep, so I need to assess her. I also have a poorly chicken, so I think a visit to the GP will have to wait for me, by which time hopefully I will be better. It sounds like it may be an allergy to the virus, thanks for the info. craftyhunnypie
Shingles by any chance? See the doctor asap with any rash! Emma.x
The Dogmother
I get the same thing when I get some viruses, also if I accidentally eat and shellfish (which I am allergic to) the rash is on the insides of arms and legs, down the sides of my torso and spreads to the rest of my torso before fading. See the doc if you are at all concerned though.
chickencam
That's just what mine is like. I will see how it goes, I feel a bit under the weather, but not too bad. YD seems a lot better this morning, so hopefully she will be fine for tomorrow's 11+ My OH was a bit freaked by my rash last night, he kept putting my syptoms into the NHS Direct site and he decided that I had everything from meningitis to measles, and plenty in between. Do you have the option of phoning them on the actually morning to say she's still not well enough to take it? We have that here.
Donna_0
Hiya! I've just been through something similar..... Overdid the lenor in our wash and started with a hives type rash on my arms and hands, which dissapeared on a night. I went back to the doctors twice as they told me to take over the counter antihistamine which is only 10mg which wasn't working. It happened wherever my clothes were rubbing the doctor gave me 120mg antihistamine, since I went to see him (being forceful that I wanted allergy testing) I've had no rash (and not even taken any tablets?!) This lasted about two weeks mostly on arms and hands. Any rash I would see the doc about, but don't be frightened to ask for allergy testing if you think that's what it might be Hope this helps x Little Pickle- Pekin Bantam Fleur-Pekin bantam In the nursery- Baby-Pekin bantam Millie-Pekin Bantam
Valkyrie
I've just remembered that when my son worked nights at Sainsbury's he was covered in a hives type rash. Turned out to be an allergic reaction to the fleece he had to wear next to his skin. Cleared up after antihistamine and then he quit. chickencam
I think it must have been the virus, because it has faded mostly now. I still feel a bit under the weather, but much better. Thanks for the advice
