bigmommasally
I think I'm coming down with a cold, feel a bit achey, sniffley and generally a bit blergh Trouble is tomorrow I'm booked on a Christmas one day patchwork workshop for which I've paid £25 in advance non returnable. My question is - If I definitely do have a cold tomorrow but feel well enough in myself would it be really selfish of me still to go and risk infecting everyone else? I've waited months for this course and would be really upset to miss it.
Space Chick
If you were to ask my husband he would say stay at home as he hates people spreading germs. However, I say, if you feel well enough you should go, but armed with anti bac hand gel and lots of tissues, tell people you have a cold and leave them choose whether to sit by you or not
Snowy
I'm afraid I'd go for it! Dose yourself up well - decongestants, paracetamol and ibuprofen. Some airwaves chewing gum. Plenty of tissues in your bag and a small bottle of that antibacterial hand gel. Then just don't cough or breathe on anyone
docsquid
Definitely don't go. There may be vulnerable people attending this workshop. Remember, a cold for many people is a minor illness but for some can mean weeks of illness or even be a killer. I would not want to risk passing anything on to anybody. Stay at home, get well, and feel good that you didn't make anybody else ill.
BeckyBoo
Whereas I say go, because people incubate colds and are infectious long before they have symptoms, we're all exposed every day to things we have no idea are around us. If you're well enough in yourself then as stated you can dose yourself up, make sure people have a choice to sit with you or not (I would imagine it'll be obvious you have a cold ) and if you've got antibacterial hand wash and tissues then you can't do much more. I appreciate there may be vulnerable people there but then it's their choice to attend something where there will be a lot of people in a close social setting. You might have been with any number of vulnerable people before you started sniffing BeckyBoo
ubereglu
I'd say go if you feel well enough.
Egluntyne
I'd say go. We all take a chance of picking up a virus every time we step outside our front door. You are just as likely to be coughed or sneezed on in a paper shop, church or chippy as you are on a crafting course.
Goosey Lucy
I'd say go unless you're running a temperature but make sure you don't cough/sneeze on others or things they may touch.
Chucky Mama
I would go and be as careful re coughing and sneezing etc over other people as possible. There are people with colds and coughs everywhere at this time of year so you will probably find that you aren't the only one there with the sniffles. I hope you felt well enough to go and enjoyed it.
bigmommasally
Hi all, thanks for all your comments After all that I woke up this morning feeling fine no sign of a cold - don't know what was going on with me last night - if it was a cold or virus it must have been the shortest one in history. So I was able to go to my patchwork workshop completely guilt free. I had a great day and made a christmas tree wall hanging. I'll post a photo of it later in the crafty section.
