What size Tarpaflex tarpaulin for my Cube run?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am thinking of buying one of those glass clear tarpaulins from Tarpaflex as a winter cover for my Cube run, but am not sure what size to get. My run floor is woodchip, so doesn't need to stay perfectly dry; the intention is really just to keep some of the wind and rain out. I have a combination of normal and winter Omlet covers on at the moment, but really need something more substantial.

The length is not a problem, as I know how many extensions (3) I want to cover to cover (plus the normal run if possible). I am a bit unsure about the width though. Tarpaflex states that their tarpaulins are approximately 30cm shorter than advertised, so I guess this means that the 3.6m width should fit, with a 15cm opening along the bottom. I am a bit worried that this will make things pretty stuffy in there, or will result in a very dirty tarpaulin, but on the other hand am not sure whether a 3m, 2.4m or 2m width would leave too large a gap at the sides.

What have other people used to cover their runs? It seems to me the Tarpaflex tarpaulins only have eyelets every 1m. Is this sufficient for securing the tarpaulins, or is it a good idea to add some more eyelets? Also, what have other people used to secure their tarpaulins to their runs?

If it was me I would get the 2.4 or 3m one

You can always put a crease in it when the weather is better and let it down when its very rainy

I use the ball bungees with the existing eyelets then use long bungees over the whole thing

Homebase recently had a pack of two decent bungees for £1 :D
