Goosey Lucy
We found exactly the same... OH's socks are all black socks from M&S but the different batches are not exactly the same!! I couldn't believe it, I thought I was going made. They're all black but ever so slightly different and he insists some are shorter than others. Ziggy
DD4 has some lovely odd socks, bought from a gift shop... they sell them in 'pairs' of three, so in 'trios' i guess, and they have different patterns and colours... we got her two sets and now she has six socks that she can wear with any other pattern in the lot... DD1 had a phase of always wearing odd socks, on purpose. She saw it as cool and original, and it struck me once while sorting her clean laundry that I still paired them! Eventually I started pairing them as the combinations I knew she liked best (like one Scooby Doo sock and a Spiderman one)... I wonder why I didn't just put them all in her drawers individually... Sometimes I think I'm not quite right in the logic department!!
Falkor
I am currently wearing one plain black sock and one snoopy sock! Don`t tell anyone! We do a black sock and underwear wash - they even have their own laundry basket but we still have odd socks! These odd socks get put into the odd sock box where they stay until we have a sort out about once a month and if friends can`t be made then they get binned! Space Chick
Ahhh the age old sock debate I have started to favour the socks for me that look black when inside shoes, but have that exciting multicoloured stripe on the sole, very easy for pairing, but also a most desired victim of the sock eating monster. M&S mens range do some lovely ones, I don't mind having mens socks OH will only wear plain black socks, all black, completely black, must not deviate from the blackness!! However, whenever he buys a new pack, he sews a little bit of coloured thread in the tops of them, so they can always be paired with others of the same age (as he has a different thread colour for each pack) so he doesn't mix older socks with newer socks, I've told him he needs professional help

Ah - so I'm not imagining it!! SEM always chooses to devour the nicest socks, not the saggy old ones with potatoes in the heels. And my particular SEM prefers thick, welly-boot socks - the really useful ones that you never have quite enough of. Your OH sounds like a paragon, Debs. Does he sew his own buttons on, too? Reikiranf
The sock monster doesn't just visit us, it lives with us in the form of YD who will happily take & wear anyones socks I've not worn socks for a while as I'm living in Ugg boots, so I've been thinking that as our sock monster is in Australia until Christmas Eve perhaps I should convert DH & DS to Uggs and reduce the weekly wash
Scramble
I would be upset if my parents tried to induce a plain-sock-scheme to help with the lost ones What would I do without the green ones with the pandas, the blue ones with the ducks, the white ones with the pink hearts and bows... Of course the christmas snowflake ones too ... It's not my fault that topshop had a sock sale I do pair them up when they all come out of the wash though
docsquid
Every time we find a style of sock that he likes, we buy loads of them the same so you don't have to pair them up. The problem is now we have a few of each left, not always in even numbers, and they are gradually diminishing as the hole monster strikes. I think he should just wear odd socks - "Ooops, word censored!"ody would notice!
