Solitary chicken - need advice

i just wondered how you fix them to your runs obviously i'd put hooks at the top but i'd like to secure the bottom somehow so it doesn't blow up in the wind.

I just made holes in it and used string and a bungee on one side (the top of the eglu run)

I use one on top of cube and then another down sides. I use Softies through the holes in top then bricks on the bottoms away from the cube and bungees to stop it all flapping about. Keeps them nice and dry and gives air channels.

 

Except last night in the terrible winds when part blew off and rain got in.

 

Just bungees would probably be ok.

 

Edited to say just looked at your run Its great. I would tie the top and make holes and tie the sides and bottom. You could turn a hem to make a channel at the bottom to thread something heavy through to keep it down.

Bulldog clips (they do rust after a while) or soft plastic pegs from Lakeland. I've also got the Omlet shade partly over the top of mine, and made holes in the shower curtain so the bungee clips can go through it.

not about the shower curtains...but i do like the table your eglu is on - where is it from ? I could do with one, make a bit more floor space in our run

I use hooks screwed into the run and make eyelets using one of those kits.

 

I started off using dowling through "hems" made with tarpaulin tape (made them really easy to roll up) but the tarp tape just doesn't last . I'm now redoing my blinds with eyelets and top and bottom and hooks and bungees to hold them in place.

Plastic clothes pegs here.....with long bungees over the top on one of my cube runs.

 

Peg are as it means I can whip it off on a dry day!

I put a tarp on my big run today, I attached the top two corners then used two bungees linked together to run all around the tarp so its snug to the run

my dad made it for me, in fact he made the whole wir (with the help of os, oh & the twins)

i'm going to ask him to make me another one for my (hopefully after xmas)

... its £15 delivery for a coop table which I think is pretty steep so you might want to collect

 

Or see if you can get a coffee table from B&Q or ikea

Now I like the look of those........do they just clip shut or do you need a tool?

They do clip together and punch through the plastic as they do it, but I use a small hammer to make sure they are porperly clicked. I recycle them and have had 10 for about 5 years.
