rufusrooster
I should have my wir & cube ready in the next week or so and will be ready to increase my flock by 3 or 4. i currently have my 4 hens in the eglu & extended run and i am undecided on what might be the best way to procede, 1. new girls in the cube and wir for a week or 2 on there own and then introduce the original 4 into the wir & cube, or 2. as it will be a new home / environment for all of them just put all in the wir & cube together from the off . any thoughts ? of course i havent decided waht to get yet, i'm assuming its not the best time of year for choice ? and dont know wether to get 3 or 4 of the seame breed or maybe 2 pairs, im gonna give storrs and outgate poultry a ring to see what they have available, if no joy i may have to get thenm delivered from Wernlas, i would prefer to go have a look but its an 8 hour round trip
House MD 221B
I can't speak any science or facts. But personally I would make it a new home for all, they are going to sort it out amongst themselves anyway, but a bunch of curious chickens, is probably better than a few curious chickens invading a few settled chickens. Just my humble opinion, feel free to disagree. But good luck you lucky lucky person jealous

Plum
I've only done one lot of introductions but I would divide the run in two for a while so you can keep them apart while you screen them for any disease. Give them a chance to get used to the sight and smell of each other and the new ones may be strangers to each other anyway and take a bit to get to know each other. Guess you could see what happens then divide them but I wouldn't.
chelsea
New chickens and a WIR - how exciting If it were me, I would move all the original girls over to the cube and WIR and let them settle in and then put any newbies into the eglu and run seperately for a while and then begin a gradual introduction. Is there anyway you can place your eglu & run along side the WIR so that the newbies and oldies can see/smell each other? (entirely up to you though!) The longer and slower you can do the introduction the better the results. You might also want to consider how many more girls your lovely new run can accommodate before going out on a spree! (I know it's tempting )
rufusrooster
i want to get them all in the wir asap really, and i could even put the eglu inside the run for a whilst, and obviously ive still got the eglu run if i do have to seperate any of them for a few weeks. once there sorted i will be able to sell my eglu & run. the run is 4.5m x 1.8m with the cube outside the run, so that gives me room for 8 hens, as i said in op i may only get another 3 ?
