Ygerna
Ok, so I am sat on my sofa feeling sorry for myself, wondering what I can do to cheer myself up. I can't go shopping, on-line or otherwise as I have little money, I can't go out as I am on extremely strong pain killers which make me woosy, and my friends are working or busy. As I have run out of ideas, I thought I ask you all on here... Come on, spam me with your cheery ideas please.
Guest
do you have an allotment or veg garden? I always find browsing seed catalogues/web sites and planning what to grow next year cheers me up. read a book. catch up on correspondance. listen to some music. watch the chickens. have a nice relaxing bath. eat some chocolate
craftyhunnypie
I craft & make something. It's nice at the end of the day to say ' look what I've made'! Or I sit in the garden with a hot cuppa watching the chooks for a bit. I often bake a cake or make a nice soup. Or I put some ' feel good' cheery music on. I do something relaxing & self indulgent. Seagazer
If you're feeling a bit woozy I would just put on a lovely film and relax on the sofa. That always makes me happy, otherwise it would be a really nice walk but as you're obviously not feeling good don't do that! Hope you feel better soon. Chickendoodle
A cheesy Christmas film would do it for me
majorbloodnock
Whenever I or my wife are poorly, we'll curl up in bed with a good book. In fact, we've got several series for which we reach for exactly that purpose. Oh, and if your appetite isn't harmed, don't forget the recuperative powers of a spot of comfort food - a nice hot bowl of soup usually does it for me. So there are my tips; reading and eating. Sums me up, really..... One tip my father received, though, from his Victorian grandmother was this. No matter how sad you're feeling, go and wash your hands and face; it'll make you feel just a little bit better, and will give enough of a lift to let you start thinking a little more positively. This actually does work for me! I also love looking through craft or country-type magazines. There is usually something I see that inspires me. Failing that, I am a real sucker for a well-watched favorite film - one of my best being "Baby Boom" with Diane Keaton. (Oh No! I hear )
Cinnamon
I usually either go to bed & have a read, maybe a doze too. Or try to get busy & bung the radio on to something lively (Absolute does it for me!) I am feeling down at the moment - the usual Christmas family problems, but am decorating my jars of jams & chutneys with pretty fabric toppers & listening to Absolute, as well as posting here

Olly
I think the Major's advice is sound - if I'm feeling low, I read Georgette Heyer or something that's not too taxing and has a happy ending (Trollope or Jane Austen also work in this situation). Or watch a film with a similar format! As you're feeling woozy, I'd either snuggle up on the sofa or in bed. Hope you soon feel better - I also find it helps to write my diary at these times, sometimes putting down on paper the things that are making you feel low can help to resolve them a things. And - a cliche, but true nonetheless - list five good things that have happened to you today, even if it's just 'collecting eggs' or 'getting a Christmas card from an old friend'. Hope you soon feel better.
chickenNutter
I normally find a good burst of physical work like housework or cleaning out the chickens does it for me. Although perhaps not if you are feeling woozy. I am with the Major on the bed and good book (not literally you understand, I think Lady Bloodnock might have something to say about that.) Sofa/fire/tellly/food combination also good, but not Baby Boom, 'One fine Day' with George Clooney and Michelle Pfieffer.

chelsea
I agree with many of the replies: Listening to some easy listening music or something really cheesy like 80's/Abba Watching a film that has an upbeat tone and that is easy to watch, my own personal favourite for snuggling up on the sofa would be The Wizard of Oz Going out for a stroll (weather permitting) especially first thing on a frosty morning when there's "Ooops, word censored!"ody about Playing with the dog for half an hour in the front room, she has a toy box in the corner of the living room and seeing her romp around really makes me
Guest
don't blush Chel, it's a wonderful film, Sam Wannamaker is great in it too and when Sam Shepherd kisses her for the first time when her car breaks down, oh boy!!!! I love the bit where she's telling him all her personal problems cos she thinks he's a doctor, hilarious! I just picked up a new (M&S) dinner service from a freecycler, that's made me very happy!
