Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas!

Recommended Posts

Yes, we've been playing the old compilation CD's (or rather I have :D !) I have Christmas Carols sung by schoolchildren, to which I warble along in a glass breaking wobbly falsetto voice (much to small persons embarrassment, particularly if they have friends over) and ED constantly plays Slade, Merry Christmas. At this time of year I reckon the cheesier the better! :D

Oh Poet - always makes me cry that one. Love it. And my other one is the David Essex one - something or other Winter's Tale - not sure whether that is the proper title or "It was only a" goes in front . Don't cry for that one. :D And The Spinners doing the 12 days of Christmas - because it's funny. Ooh the Sleigh Ride song is the ultimate favourite. OH's is Let it Snow - which is infuriating because it's being howled by him quite often now.

For me the ultimate christmas song is Stop the Cavalry - Jonah Lewie as I had my first baby (20 years ago) at the end of November, but we used to leave the radio on at night ( because it had been on in the nursery at the hospital) and I remember the night time feeds with that playing...so evocative even is she is at Uni now!!!

Generally I get a bit teary around any Christmas songs and can't be relied on not to well up when they play " Oh come all ye Faithful" even if that is in the middle of a shopping precinct...damn these hormones are hard to manage

Me too! I think the title was Winter's Tale.

Actually, I'm just a sucker for most Christmas songs - I still love "White Christmas" even though it has been murdered time and time again :(

Oh I love the Fairytale of New York - makes me laugh (I especially emphasise singing that naughty part to OH)! Then there's Mike Oldfield's one that I can never remember the name of - when my 2 were little we did a bit of Morris Dancing with socks around the settee. That sort of stopped when somebody let go of their sock and it landed in a cactus with hooked barbs. Luckily they belonged to OH. Took ages to undo it.
