How will I manage.

Recommended Posts

Slipped yesterday morning on way to work and now have left arm in plaster from the tip of my thumb to my wrist :boohoo::boohoo:

Not sure how I will manage cleaning the girlies, have fed and de pooed this morning but will not have their usual standards of house keeping for next few weeks, dont think I can manage the power washer one handed

And NO hubby and kids will not help very much :evil:

Least I am now off work until 29th as cant do much, would like to let girls out of run but dont think I can catch them if decide they dont like the snow.

Oh dear, that sounds really painful and annoying!

I would say that in this weather then de-pooing should be fine for a few weeks. They won't be as clean as you would like, but as long as their area is dry then nothing bad should be able to develop in the cold.

Take care of yourself - I'm sure the chicks will be fine!

Ooo poor you...would bribery work with the kids if the sympathy card isn't?

Chooks are fairly resilient, as long as levels aren't too hideous they'll manage, just be sure all their feeders & drinkers are topped up & poo pick as you can.......surely you can get a child to empty the poo tray every few days so it's not building up too much in the (pink eglu) . If your girls don't like the snow I'd have thought they'd stay in the run anyway, and if they are anything like my girls are led by their stomachs so a rattle of corn is enough to have 24 greedy beaks staring at me intently & willing to go anywhere the corn falls

I hope it's not to painful, I've never had a bone break so have no idea.........says she sprawling across the wooden sideboard to touch as much as possible for good luck :anxious:

So sorry to hear that. I have been worried too, as I have an IV line in my right arm since Tuesday, so can't do any more than poo pick, although can pick up the chooks if needed. DH will help with poo picking but won't scrub out the cube.

However, I only have a couple of weeks of this, whereas you have longer, so I do sympathise. It does get a bit muddy, but I don't think they will come to too much harm with the temperatures so low.

Hugs, and hope it heals well, and quickly.

Sorry to hear it. Perhaps if your children heard the rattle of coins they might be able to help. :D

Is there a teenager nearby who might be glad of some pocket money?

Look at it like this, as you are unable to see to your hens, you won't be able to iron, cook or hoover either. The family will have to pitch in.

The hens will be fine with minimal housekeeping standards for a while. So long as they are fed and watered they will be quite happy.

Hope you are soon on the mend.
