Clash City Rocker
L*ve Christmas Day being on a Friday (a real long weekend). Late to bed and getting up late for a whole week. Christmas Eve with close friends (and not extended family). Boxing Day football (away at Anfield this year). Receiving Presents. MIL's Christmas Dinner. Leftovers. Hate Decorations (makes my OCD worse). Television. Visiting people I didn't like last year and I still don't like this year!!!!! Buying cards and wrapping paper in the "sales" ready for next year. Vouchers as presents. "Baileys" all flavours. Sprouts.

chickenNutter
Loves Carols in the square in our village on Christmas Eve The infectious pleasure of the kids on discovering their stockings Indiscriminate agreement to whatever the kids are telling us being the only cost of probably the longest lie-in of the year (the kids don't even insist on us being awake whilst we're agreeing). Dripping on toast for breakfast. The morning service - probably the most family-oriented and engaging service of them all. The excuse to cook something unashamedly special. The excuse to drink something unashamedly special. The fact that simple honest charity and goodwill is usually taken at face value for once. Hates Aled Jones singing "The Snowman" (nothing against Mr Jones; purely an unfortunate association). Being marketed at (mitigated considerably by our not having a television). Regrets That the charity and goodwill so evident around this time rarely last much beyond the new year. Major, I think it was that year's choir boy of the year that sang 'The snowman' although it has since eternally been attributed to Aled Jones. (Poor Choir boy of the Year ) Loves Sprouts sprouts Sprouts SProuts SPRouts SPROuts SPROUts SPROUTs SPROUTS SPROUTS SPROUTS Their are wonderful, splendicious, fantastic little balls of vitamins and goodness! How could anyone not like them? Hates.... Can't think of anything 'tis the season of goodwill to all men (..............women and chickens)
welovemarmite
loves trying to think of surprise gifts for people buying presents for my step daughter playing in the snow with the kids christmas day just with my hubbie staying in bed on christmas day until its time to go to the pub for dinner. the quietness outside on christmas day hates having to visit family and being shoe horned in a house with people you dont really like and sitting on really uncomfortable chairs that give you a bad back for weeks. the bare feeling when christmas decorations and cards come down. panic buying - the shops are only closed for two days and the same amount of people need feeding. Terracata
Loves Shopping, I'm such a girl. Watching the dog open his presents. The food, oh my. The food. Getting things, obviously. Hates Being made to use my polite family voice for days on end. Being told that I've grown in the 16 years since Insert various distant relative or family friend has seen me. Slipping over on ice. Working in the winter weather.
majorbloodnock
Major, I think it was that year's choir boy of the year that sang 'The snowman' although it has since eternally been attributed to Aled Jones. (Poor Choir boy of the Year ) It was 1986 and you're right that Aled Jones wasn't the only choirboy celebrity that year. The choirboy of the year you're thinking of was Daniel Ludford-Thomas, and you're also right that the album he released that year contained a rendition of Walking in the Air. However, that wasn't the song he was particularly renowned for (I think it was Wings of a Dove, by Mendelsohn), and the version of Walking in the Air that ended up dying a cliche'd death upon the airwaves was Aled Jones'. In fact, the two lads had very distinct and different styles, and Daniel's was the purer voice whilst Aled's was the more warbly.

Valkyrie
Another one is The Things I'll Miss My dad The children being small and eagerly diving in their stockings in the middle of the night to see what Santa brought. Waiting up till they've gone to sleep before you can sort out their pressies because they are too excited.
AJuff
I LOVE All the Christmas carols, Christmas Oratorios and especially the John Rutter Jesus Child carol. Hearing my children play and sing carols on their instruments. My 6yr old plays carols on her violin and plays We three Kings on the piano. Ahhh Watching my class perform the Nativity every year - infact any children singing!! The chocolate!!! The open fire, Christmas tree lit up, candles burning. Family DVD nights. Time off work to read and have a cup of tea in bed on the morning. I HATE Children up way too early!!! The end of present opening. The mess of Christmas and overflowing bins! Sale adverts during Christmas day Cards with Spongebob Squarepants santas on them. Tacky decorations. Both lists could go on but I need to go and cut holly and ivy to decorate. Choosing and decorating the Christmas tree Stollen, yummyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Mulled Wine All the Christmas food, in fact Midnight Mass Carols by Candlelight The annual Christmas Eve get together with my friends Spending time with family I hate... The cost - it's such a darned expensive time of year! Buying presents for my nephews who have everything, despite all being under 10yrs old. The in-laws' get together (the men invariably get drunk, opinionated and obnoxious. DH, I am pleased to say, is well behaved) Receiving toiletries as a present. Christmas cards with puppies and kittens sat in teacups.
