docsquid
Why is it that it is much better to steal food off another chicken than to take the food patiently proffered by us? The chickens have had us in stitches over the last few days doing the grape dance. You give a chicken a grape and the others run after it. The chicken with the grape doesn't dare put it down to eat it, as it will be stolen. So the chicken with the grape ends up spinning round in a circle, with the chickens trying to steal the grape running round in circles around her, vaguely pecking at her beak. Meanwhile, we are standing there patiently with another grape, only to be ignored. It has given us hours of laughter and the chickens hours of exercise! Do yours do the grape dance too? Laura & CTB
Mine form an orderly queue to be hand fed one at a time! ( )
chickenopolis
Our's do the grape dance - you'd think they'd get dizzy, but no. Once that grape has been eaten, they both come back to the back door and then have another one, and the dance starts again. It's hours of fun - and cheap too! Am missing this, as I am Flubenveting them both at the minute so extra rations are not allowed - I don't want to wish my life away, BUT HURRY UP AND GET TO SATURDAY... I want a grape dance of our own..
dancing cloud
Mine do a variant on this, which usually involves standing in a large semi-circle trying to steal the grape from next-door-but-one-hen rather than waiting a couple of seconds for their own .Then there's always one that wants to examine hers as opposed to just scoffing it (usually Hope) and, to the others, that's just an open invite . Pretty soon, it's all just a scrum with me still holding grapes and waiting patiently for a beak to put them in - hours of fun!

chickenopolis
I've just had a grape dance with the girls. I know I shouldn't as I am still worming them until Saturday, but it's horrible weather and we could all do with cheering up. It was lovely. xx
