Slightly concerned about the Marmite on toast...thought it would be far too salty??? still the chooks seem to be ok on it...don't think I'll try it though!!

I think Omlet suggest marmite on toast when you first get your chickens

I thought it was a good video :)

Wonder is its a forumite?

You're right, Lewis - laying birds aren't usually much good for meat, and at 2-3 years old I think they'd need to be cooked for an awfully long time! I'm not convinced that he's going to eat those hens anyway, I think he was talking the talk.

Pity the poor cameraman, I think he must have been kneeling in the run.

Excellent, if a few more people get chickens as a result of watching that, I shall be quite happy.

I was saying about eating one of our chickens yesterday and DD said very sternly 'we are NOT going to be eating one of our chickens'. I chuckled as A)it seems they are MY chickens when it comes to feeding/cleaning and so on but OUR's every other time and B)she has made the connection between 'Chicken' and our girls, which was something I hoped to achieve by keeping chickens, for the children to understand where food actually comes from.
