JamesAyres
I think chickens are lactose intolerant , so as far as i know milk product arent a great idea. Not 100% sure on this but i think i wouldnt give them any.
Lewis
Not sure why but I'd avoid milk, you can wet the bread in water Cheese is fine though
Egluntyne
I wouldn't give them milk. Small amounts of cheese are OK I believe, although I never give it to mine because of the fat content. Yoghurt is fine because the lactase which appears because of the fermentation process helps the hen deal with the lactose. Organic live probiotic yoghurt is best. emchook
I personally would not be feeding animal products to my chooks. ... whether they could digest it or not .. Although I am sure the greedy things would love it
CluckyBucks
I give my three hens one teaspoon of natural yoghurt between them on hot days, it cools them down and they love it Would definately recommend Yeo Valley plain prebiotic yoghurt its around 35p for a small pot and its lovely to put on cereal to eat for yourself xx xx
Olly
I wouldn't feed it as a specific item of food or treats - for the reasons given above. However if you're looking at giving them the occasional left-overs - cereal that's absorbed milk, or pasta that's had a bit of grated cheese on or similar, it won't poison them. scubababe
Thanks all for clearing that up. Basically left over breakfast is ok and on pasta or small left over but don't give otherwise. A small quantity of bio yoghurt is a treat.
