Lewis
A cake sounds like a good idea Or what about a fountain pen or something like that? kind of school related
welovemarmite
Might go for the itunes. He lives about an hour and half away and i dont see him that often, and his mums cakes are to die for so i could not compete in that respect. Do kids use fountain pens these days?? Blimey I am feeling rather old.
C&T
Depends... Do you want it to be a keepsake? Or something to enjoy now? Itunes voucher or similar would certainly be appreciated I am sure, but not a keepsake. It would however be easy to "duplicate" for future exam sucess both for him and his brother. And it doesn't raise too many expectations for future gifts!! Whereas a Fountain Pen (or similar) would be a long term thing as a keepsake (assuming not lost ) - and probably more expensive. And it could be a difficult standard to repeat for future pressies re exam successes...? I think I would go for a nice card and an itunes voucher (or similar depending on interests). Maybe do more for when completed all GCSE's?
Geoid
Most students use fountain pens, not me, I use a laptop
Egluntyne
How about taking him out for a bite to eat?
majorbloodnock
Did he work really hard for it, or was he rather blasé? If the former, how about rewarding him for his effort rather than the results? Then you'll leave the door open for doing similar for him and his brother later on even if they don't pass despite applying themselves. Also, I know it's splitting hairs, but I'd suggest the "reward" is the certificate for passing, and what you're doing is a bit of "recognition" of either the effort or the successful result. Because of that, I'd agree with Egluntyne that a meal out would fit the bill nicely. All IMHO, of course.
Lewis
In the lower years everyone seemed to use fountain pens, with some of my results my Nan bought be a parker pen and had my name engraved in it Tbh now I just use a biro, but still have the fountain pen upstairs Freda can you use a laptop for all lessons? We have some of those pens that record what you write and can upload it onto the computer but I've never used it
Chucky Mama
We took ES out for a meal by himself and bought a stupidly large bar of chocolate. He was a happy bunny
Beauty-Box
Our 16 year old son has just got two early G.C.S.E's, so we bought him a game for his xbox that he really wanted.
