Well, we had a fab weekend, mainly working at our wildlife site. We needed a lot of cake to fuel all this activity, so it is with great pleasure that I can report that Claret's wonderful lemon drizzle cake recipe on the Omlet wiki went down an absolute treat.

 

My chooks will have to get laying more eggs, as the cakes are disappearing almost as fast as I can make them!

MMMM Docsquid - lemon cake. We have been promised lemon cupcakes from Erin (she had a cupcake book for Christmas), but it will be forgotten by the time she gets home.

Lewis - the piano thing was a few years ago so probably gone by now - next time do the National Gallery - my favourite is the Lady Jane Grey one. I also love George Stubbs for the precision of his horse anatomy, Constable - that era.

 

Well it would have been my dads birthday so in honour of Burn's Night, I have a poem from the birthday boy also known as Sideburns:

Well us youngsters thought it was hilariously rude and has been passed on to the next generation!

Olly's got another cold, I've spent most of the day wiping his nose, I'm thinking of a way to attach a tissue permanently under his nose. He's having a kip on the sofa now, although he keeps coughing and nearly waking himself up.

We went to the national portrait gallery a few months back - really like the blood vessel head in the fridge (don't know what its called )

Its like Body Worlds - thats Really interesting, but a bit freaky to think that they are real people who have had a family and a life.

 

Wildlife site sounds Sarah. Will have to come one day when you have another open day thing

You should get some grey partridge - I really wanted to hatch some to raise and release at the woods by the farm because they're endangered, but they do pheasant shoots so it never happened

 

We never have anything when you want it - let us know how the tissue sticking deivce works out!

I usually stuff them up my nose - the remaining tissue not stuffed up looks like a Santa moustache and beard - with a bit (OK a lot) of imagination I have to add.

Erin is baking - ooooh. Waitrose wouldn't let her buy rosewater because it has alcohol in it - now I never knew that! So Murray just popped out with her. I don't know why she wanted rosewater for lemon cakes.

A mini roast in the oven at the moment and half way through.

Just been round to see the neighbours, but the little 'uns have gone to bed. Have tried to reverse the little door on the WIR so it opens outwards but can't decide which side to have it opening so left it

 

Should be doing some more Physics tonight - will try!

It'll put hairs on your legs and chest for bracing the Highlands weather. OK I'm off to chuck a telephone pole wi' ma kilt on. Yes I am wearing a tartan skirt (not exactly a kilt) and the telegraph pole is a pencil, don't want to overdo it you know, tennis elbow (stupid thing) and all that!

Mother said she'd get me a new mattress but I didn't want one - no problems with this one and its not that old ... but I've just seen theres a lump in it which I presume is a spring?

Might get a new one then ... don't know if it'll make me get to sleep though!

 

An ebay light is here and I can't seem to get it to spin properly - have emailed the seller, who doesn't have a manual Might have to take it apart and have a poke around

Managed to fix the gobo rotator Got a new lamp for it which didn't work, took it apart, cleaned it and tighten all the leccys and it came on Have got 2 bargain gobos off ebay ...

and got some free sample slides for it. No money in my account so I can't be tempted now ... till I go to the bank

Morning all. I'm exhausted from all the country dancing, caber tossing, haggis eating and malt drinking from last night. I've got no puff left for my early morning bagpipe blowing which is a shame as my neighbours have grown to expect it at 6am every morning!

 

Here's a little thought for you ...... I think we have finally decided to fence an open paddock we have (split it into 2 perhaps) and throw in some animals but the question to you is, what shall I consider putting in my paddock or should I rent it out?

If you want it, then do you want the space to be productive or not? You could do a Tasha and have some sheep and meat birds, possibly even some Dexter cows cause they are little or some piggies. If you felt that you couldn't or wouldn't want to do it, then you could always have alpacas because they are gorgeous

 

If you don't want it, then I would rent it, but approach it in the same way as you would a flat, get references for the people, and set up standing orders for the rent and have a formal tenancy agreement to protect yourself.

More chickens of course with a couple of alpaca guardians (they have their own designated loo corner, so easy for scoopin' the poopin')

 

Yes I do like taking things apart but don't do that much now as I have realised that when I put things back together they mostly don't work. Used to do the cars (not too bad at that and they did work fine), but not now they are all cyberwheels so I dare not.

Soo tired. Olly was in with us again from about 2am then he was awake at about 5:30am. Aching all over, he has a tendency to kick me in the back. Might try and have a kip, but don't know if Olly will let me, usually as soon I close my eyes, he shouts "Wake up, mum!" at the top of his voice.

Get him to read you a story - or read the pictures in a book. Then you can go "hhmmmm" at strategic points although you are far away. Always used to zonk me out, and sometimes they'd drop off too (although that was when they were at school and 4pm is that dreaded hour).
