Recommended Posts

we had the jeff buckley version at a funeral I conducted a few months ago - very moving...

Not sure how you could have had pictures of Shrek in you mind revnev!:? Jeff Buckley's version is so atmospheric that it feels like a different song completely. And the fact that he drowned aged just 30 in 1997 makes it all the more haunting.... for me anyway. :(

possibly because my mind works differently to yours - and possibly also because my daughter had the CD of the music from Shrek - and she played it over and over and over and over and over again - the association is fixed in my mind. :-)

it doesn't make it any less "haunting" - but it does set up an interesting clash of images in my head...

I have also used that song in church with a series of images - because (obviously) it's about David and Bathseba - but (I think) that was pre-Shrek!! because I don't remember thinking of Shrek back then!

Oh come on - admit it - it was *your* CD, you played it 'til you were sick of it! We've all done it.....

..obviously it will be my March CD-of-the-month choice - though, you have prompted me to go and flick through my small Leonard Cohen collection - all on vinyl...

:D
