Jeff Buckley's version is so atmospheric that it feels like a different song completely. And the fact that he drowned aged just 30 in 1997 makes it all the more haunting.... for me anyway. And the fact that he drowned aged just 30 in 1997 makes it all the more haunting.... for me anyway. possibly because my mind works differently to yours - and possibly also because my daughter had the CD of the music from Shrek - and she played it over and over and over and over and over again - the association is fixed in my mind. it doesn't make it any less "haunting" - but it does set up an interesting clash of images in my head... I have also used that song in church with a series of images - because (obviously) it's about David and Bathseba - but (I think) that was pre-Shrek!! because I don't remember thinking of Shrek back then!
