dancing cloud
Having lost three of my lttle girls in the last six weeks , it will come as no surprise to regular readers that I've put my name down to adopt some more. Hopefully being rescued at the end of this month, I'll be taking anywhere between 3 and 6 depending on the size of the rescue and waiting list (now got and with no occupants - a situation that simply cannot be allowed to continue ). I am thinking of volunteering to help with the actual rescue, if I could be of assistance, but before doing so was wondering if it might be best to find out exactly what I might be letting myself in for. I am sure I will be horrified and I am sure there will be tears before bedtime, and would like to hear about your experiences from any of you that have done this. Was it so traumatic you never went back, or was it so worthwhile you've carried on? I don't want to be a liability on the day but I kind of feel like a fraud, being about to benefit from the rescues for the third time whilst doing none of the actual work if I would be perfectly capable. Thanks in advance for all of your views Edited February 5, 2010 by Guest
jimnpaula
Have you read this from the BHWT? P
dancing cloud
Thanks Paula, I have seen this as I've spent many happy hours reading the BHWT website during boring meetings ! and was hoping to get a bit more insight from those that have actually done the job as to how difficult or otherwise it was emotionally and physically. I suspect I would cope fine physically, apart from not exactly being the most fit person ever, but not sure how well I would deal with it emotionally. Don't want to end up with somebody having to look after me instead of the hens !
dancing cloud
I gave it more thought and decided to volunteer, so I've left a message on the answerphone to see if I can be of use. If I get to assist, I'll let you know how it went. Fingers crossed that they will have something useful for me to do and that I can hold on to the positive thought of lots of lucky little girls going to happy homes, where they can be spoiled for the rest of their lives

There are so many jobs that need doing I am sure you will find something that suits you if you find it too upsetting on an actual rehoming day there is a mega amount of organising that takes place behind the scenes that is equally as important as the actual re-homing day. Keep us informed - would love to hear how you get on
