Im hopefully getting a WIR this year and I really like the idea of having aubiose on the floor, but how many bags would it take to fill a 6ft x 9ft WIR and how deep should it be?

I have a small stable about the same size and a bag covers the floor a couple of inches deep, not sure if thats ok but it works

I am using less but replacing more often, my run is 18ft by 6ft and I use half a bale.

 

I did use a whole bale and replaced every 6 weeks, but now I replace every fortnight.

 

its not deep but the girls can still scratch it about and don't seem to mind

What do you having your run on is it just paving slabs or have you got a pond liner?

I am in the SpaceChick camp of less but change more often.

 

I have a 9x11 run and I use half - 2/3 of a bale.

My run is 9x12 and I now use about 3/4 bale of hemcore on the floor. I used to put more down but it took along time to clear out so now I put less in but change it more often.

You really don't need it very deep; it's about 1-2" in my run.

My run's about 6ft x 7.5ft and half a bale gives a good coverage (it's on soil though which helps).

When its on soil do you have to change it more often?

I don't think so as the soil helps to keep things dried out. I've not tried it the other way though so can't be sure!

 

I change mine every 3 months or so (with a bit of poo picking inbetween obviously!)

We had ours on soil initially and the girls dug through the aubiose to the mud and then dug that up as well, completely trashing their lovely clean Aubiose! So we've got membrane down now (for under decking I think?) - really thick stuff but lets the water drain through whilst stopping the mud coming up Had ours down 6 weeks and think I'll change it in the next couple of weeks or so - we used 1.5 bales in 7x11ft and the girls dig away so it's it's deep in places but only half inch in others!

Sorry to hijack this thread but Tutti - fruiti would you mind if I asked what the membrane you are using is called and where you purchased? I have weed-suppressing membrane down but the little angels are digging it up!!
