sparkysmum
We have a little bit of garden which is needing a couple of hens I have been following jellykelly's thread and decided on Pekins But then I remembered Silkies and now I don't know what to get So please omleteers help me decide. I would add we are in central Scotland & accordingly wet and windy is the norm.

Falkor
I voted Pekins. Normally I would of said Silkies as I LURVE my furry little monsters but as soon as I read wet and windy the image of my two sulking inside their ark whilst my pekin loons run around almost jumping in the puddles popped into my head. sparkysmum
Thank you for your comment Palmer, I think my mind is made up - Pekins it is . Oh for warm, sunny climes, lots of land & silkies
Valkyrie
It's the opposite here - our silkie loves getting wet - she does it on purpose to get blow dried, which she just loooooves. Funny little character - OH is quite smitten. The Pekins are cute too. Mum says the black one reminds her of her grandmother - little old lady in a Queen Victoria dress complete with bustle! The Pekins are really funny when they run - they look like they've lost the elastic in their knickers which have fallen round their ankles. On the other hand a little fluffy head bobbing up and down is equally funny. How about one of each? Pekins can be a bit bossy, but if they know the score from the beginning it should be fine - silkies know their place at the bottom! On the other hand silkies don't know when to shelter, so can get chilled easily with their feathers - especially if it's wet and windy (and Scotland has had a basinful of grotty winter weather this year). I have been adding citricidal to their water just as a precaution - we've been wet, windy (quite high and exposed) and cold but I think we have warmer temperature overall. Yep, stick with the pekins.
