kathyschix
Hello everyone, Well what a week it has been! I have been meaning to post pictures of our winter Eglu set up for a while now, but you know how time gets away. Possibly, I can help someone else who is where I was last year at this time...thinking about getting an Eglu and worrying about the girls and the cold weather! Ultimately, I decided to keep the Eglu in a stationary spot for the winter, close to the house. It is sheltered by the house from the coldest north winds and the run receives southern sun exposure when it is actually sunny out. As you can see, it is partially under our covered porch with the run extending out into the yard and covered with a large, clear shower curtain. Easy access for me to take care of the girls and do the daily chores when it is COLD out! They've obviously picked all the grass from the bottom of the run and I have it covered with dry leaves which they still root around in. Weather permitting, they are out for free ranging in the yard everyday too. Olive: "Should I jump up there?" Why, yes I should! Now here is where the FUN starts. I took these photos the afternoon of Feb. 5 because I knew what was coming that night. This is what we woke up to Feb. 6: We got a total of 16" of snow with that storm. The girls are not very fond of the snow. "What is this stuff???" Lily, the brave chicken of the snow... Enjoying the sunny front of the run and getting a bite to eat... And then a few days later, on Feb, 10, we got another 12" of snow. Is it SPRING yet???

Cranfield Kate
My friends in Minnesota say when they want a laugh in winter they turn on CNN and watch the New Yorkers coping with their snow. This year apparently the favourite party game was to turn on BBC News 24 and have hysterics at the UK's attempts.

Saronne
I know it well. As a former resident of Michigan, nothing ever came to a stand-still for 12 inches of snow - or 24 inches, for that matter! Saronne x
