Janepie33
We have usually booked our summer holiday by this time, but I've run out of ideas. We usually go to an island somewhere and have been to the following:- Gozo Meganissi Isle of Wight The Azores Guernsey Cozumel Ischia I would really love a family holiday again, but it seems that the offspring (18 & 19) have other plans, so this MIGHT be the first summer holiday that OH and I will have on our own since before the children were born. Has anyone got any sugestions? We looked at the Isles of Scilly, but they seemed really expensive with not much to do except walking. We also considered the Isle of Man as we went there for a weekend about 25 years ago.
Redwing
The National Trust have cottages for rent on Brownsea Island - not everyones cup of tea but i'd like to go there for a hol Lundy Island is supposed to be lovely and unspoilt The Shetland Isles would be interesting too! Olly
Lundy Island is lovely ... if you like drinking beer, watching birds and, er, walking! Nothing else to do there (which is part of the beauty of it). How about a Greek island - Kephalonia's lovely.
Lesley
Madeira is lovely - we've been twice. Great levada walks but plenty of sightseeing as well.
Cinnamon
I vote for the Greek islands which are beautiful, relaxing, have great activities & are a good price.
chelsea
What about Scotland? We love Skye and the surrounding area - truly breathtaking scenery and wildlife. The only thing is the weather is very unpredicatable up there and there will be midges in Summer. If I wanted somewhere warm but not too far away I would pick Sardinia. Guernsey can be expensive and to be honest as it's only a short hop away on a plane it doesnt really feel like you've gone anywhere.
cockadoodle1
Try Sri Lanka, its a brilliant country the people are friendly and depending on where you stay the food is great. Read about Club Palm bay on tripadvisor book through Mercury Direct, prices are good because they want your money. We went last year in August weather was about 30 and not much rain
Chickendoodle
Santorini is beautiful - volcanic Greek island with the iconic blue church tower that you see in all the photos
craftyhunnypie
Close to home, Jersey is beautiful if you get the weather. The beaches are glorious - we loved it there - We stayed in St.Helier & took the car over. Abroad, I too would reccomend the Greek Islands. Corfu is lovely, as is Thassos. It all depends how far you want to travel & budget. I can also truly recommend Phuket Island in Thailand. Emma.x
Lavenders_Blue
A second vote for Jersey here, it's lovely. But perhaps if you've already been to Guernsey you're looking for somewhere different? The Croatian islands might be worth a look. I have only been to the mainland, and not the islands, but it was beautiful and some of the islands have large areas of protected parkland so are very unspoilt. emily95
Madeira is lovely - we've been twice. Great levada walks but plenty of sightseeing as well. I was going to suggest Madeira too. My family have been going every year for 22 years, and I've been every year since I was born. As Lesley says the levada walks are great, the food is fantastic and there are lots of trips you can go on and sights to see. Em xxx
dippy bird
I guess it depends on what you want from your holiday? We stay here when we are on our way to the south of France http://s139939902.onlinehome.fr/ We only do an overnight stay, but I could easily stay there for a fortnight. It's beautiful! The family are lovely-the food is fantastic and the area is absolutely stunning. There's loads to do and lots of places to visit. You would need a car though.. Not sure if that link will work - so just google Le Ferme Du Planet (it's in Ouroux France)

craftyhunnypie
I'll second Freiburg in Germany! Or even Grodig just outside of Salzburg Austria - simply stunning! We always stay at the Sallerhof in Grodig, when we go there. Lots of walks or you can hire bicycles for going into Salzburg. Also local transport. Lots to see & do. Stunning scenery. The World is your Oyster - literally! Emma.x
jackiepoppies
France for me too Soooo much to see and do! Why not get an Alastair Sawdays ' Special Places to stay' and just travel around as the fancy takes you stopping at some amazing chambres d'hotes and trying different regional foods? Happy holidays Jx
Chucky Mama
We too had loads of problems choosing this year. We narrowed it down to Malaysia, Italy & Morrocco. I have just bitten the bullet and booked 10 days in Morrocco. We will spend a few days in Marakesh, then camel trek for the day to the Atlas mountains where we stay in a Berber Tent/Hut, back to Marakkesh and then to the south to a quiet beach. Hope it isn't too hot

I've been to Morocco three times before, always tough hiking in the mountains. We are making this our last "group holiday" Too much effort with people we don't like as I've got older ................. sorry
