Smiler33
Well, the day has come when we are going to get our little ladies ! The Cube is all cleaned ready, I just need to put the bedding in the trays and nest box and we'll pick up some bedding for the run when we get the chooks. After all that ummming and ahhhing, we've decided to go for woodchip after all - indecisive, no not me John has now said we'll get 4, not 3 so the number's creeping up already. Zoë wants a white one, Sam just wants his to be called Betsy and John and I really aren't fussy. I do love the Bluebelle, I know someone on here said they can be a bit flighty, but I've done some research and as a rule they are lovely placid birds so we shall see. Obviously I'll post pictures (John is a prolific photographer!) so you'll all get to see them. Thanks for putting up with me asking questions all week - there'll be more to follow! Smiler33
We're back! Got - 2 x , an Amber Star and Light Sussex called Peckish (Zoë named her!) and Tikka (John's bird) Also , Rhode Star called Besty (Sam's bird). Well I think it's Rhode Star, but the lad who got her out said he thought she's a Warren. She's beautifully marked. Last, but not least, my , a Bovans Nero I've called Mabel. They're pecking around under the Cube as we speak and sorting out their ranking.

Smiler33
Got some pictures for you! We were really pleased actually because when we got back from B&Q (had to get some wood chips) all apart from Betsy had taken themselves off to bed . Good girls! Got a problem with Pip though - I really hope she settles down but she went bezerk when she saw them, howling, whining and at one point went to scratch at the netting. Definitely be keeping them well seperated and hope she settles down. I knew we'd be in trouble because when I took in the chicken feathers from when we clipped the wings she jumped up and tried to eat the feathers Anyhow, here you go: Betsy - do you think she's a Warren or a Rhode Red? Mabel Peckish snoozing (she lives up to her name and pecked Zoë 2 minutes after we got her out of the box!) Tikka
Redwing
I really like Mabel They are all lovely, not sure on the Rhode Star/Warren, it looks like a Warren to me but these hybrids have so many names one thing could have loads of names
Cooks
I like Mabel too, they are all cracking girls though
Tutti Frutti
Ooh I love Peckish! Actually, I love them all - lovely little ladies I don't know what Betsy is but it looks like she has lovely markings, not just plain ginger! And it looks like she's older than the others so might be first to lay (her comb's more developed). I love pics of young chooks

dancing cloud
What pretty girls! They're all gorgeous. Your Peckish could be a pen-pal for my Lucy killer-chicken (though hopefully both of them will soon stop pecking and grow to love us!)
