Snowy
Hope you have a fab time Debs! I'm afraid my first thought was: "we will soon be seeing a photo of Dan with his arm around the Queen's shoulders" What a downer that he may not get that one for his collection! Well done Sarah - I'm in awe! An OBE

Egluntyne
I'm expecting to see a pic of Dan wearing an Omlet T shirt in the 'T shirts around the world' thread. I don't think we have had one from Buck House yet.
Seagazer
Sounds lovely, have a fantastic time Debs. My friend's husband was a policeman at the palace and sometimes came home with leftover pastries - they were yummy. Docsquid - wow - I'm very impressed. One of our other friend's mum received an OBE and so last October we attended his wedding in a lovely chapel under St. Paul's Cathedral. It was so beautiful and definitely a perk worth taking up. Looking forward to any christenings there now too
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
What a lovely surprise! I haven't been to a garden party, but I have been to the Palace for something else, and met the Queen. You met Fred Dibnah?!?!
docsquid
What a lovely surprise! I haven't been to a garden party, but I have been to the Palace for something else, and met the Queen. You met Fred Dibnah?!?! We didn't actually meet him, but he has been a hero of ours for a very long time. The press were making a documentary about him, and we couldn't get near. I sometimes wonder if I married a Fred Dibnah clone, what with DH inventing things and restoring old tractors and such like. He hasn't built a coal mine in the back garden yet, but I see the glint in his eye when he thinks about it. It is only a matter of time before a steam engine appears in the back garden, I'm sure (unless I fill the garden with chickens first LOL). Tim Henman was very nice. He was getting his award not, as many think, for not winning Wimbledon, but for the work he does outside the public eye in developing tennis for disadvantaged kids. You might meet some famous people at the garden party
theherd123
Oh Debs what a wonderful surprise and esp after you not being too good either - something to give you a lift, how wonderful! Im sure you will have a wonderful day, the food will be perfect, the sun will shine and im positive Dan will sneek in his camera somehow! (Have you got one on a mobile phone?) The Dogmother
I'm a bit of a Dibnah fan myself, loving heavy plant, especially steam. The Boy always loses me when we go to steam rallies and I'm usually to be found on the footplate of a steam engine, stoking away!
