AJuff
I bought this Radley across the body bag as my old John Lewis bag finally gave way. I've always wanted one and as my birthday is this month I thought I'd get it whilst it's on special offer. What the picture doesn't show is that half the strap (the bit you can't see) is nylon webbing. I'm so disappointed I think I'm goinf to send it back. But what else should I buy? http://www.johnlewis.com/50528/Style.aspx
Ain't Nobody Here
What a swiz . It's not clear from the photo at all, is it ?
Cinnamon
If you ask me,that photo has been deliberately set up so you cannot see the webbing. I bought a pair of boots for one of the daughters from Next a few weeks ago - when they came they had no grip at all on the sole..it was totally smooth, which is dangerous & useless. I sent them back & refused to pay the shipping fee too - you do the same!!! I am a Kipling girl myself
theherd123
My mum bought me a Radley bag in that exact same style a couple of years ago and mine has an all leather strap so it looks like that have changed the design. Very misleading photo indeed, I can see why you were disappointed.
Space Chick
I have that exact bag, and I love it. I have used it every day since I had it at Christmas The nylon doesn't both me one bit, it is a stunning bag
TAJ
I think I would make a fuss, not just send it back - Radley are doing more nylon bags these days, but in the past the cross body ones have always been all leather and certainly that is what is shown in the photo. If you look here: http://www.radley.co.uk/Product/28295_Pocket_Bag_Across_Body_Handbags.aspx there is a side photo down the bottom which shows the bit of strap you are talk about, but the bag is described as leather, not partial leather and the main photos do hide the offending part of the strap. AJuff
All rather misleading really. Radley website shows that but other shop sites don't. As you say 100% leather is what it should be.
Jules.
I was going to get the same bag as a present from my parents for Christmas last year. I looked at in Browns of Chester in December, & it had an all-leather strap
bluekarin
I don't like the fact there is no info given on the JL website about materials I've just had a look at Radleys website and all of the across the body bags have this webbing strap http://www.radley.co.uk/Product/28295_Pocket_Bag_Across_Body_Handbags.aspx I agree, it's not very nice. It's a shame as the actual bag bit looks lovely. Maybe have a look at ebay for ones that have the all leather strap.
AJuff
I've sent an email off to radley. Lets see what they have to say. I think they have ruined a really good product.
kinsk
What a shame, Radley in my mind have always been a good make. I would have been really dissapointed too. There is probably nothing wrong with the new design but it's not what you would expect from that brand and if they are downgrading they should really mention it. TAJ
I've sent an email off to radley. Lets see what they have to say. I think they have ruined a really good product. I agree - my old version of this (used everyday) now is showing wear at the bottom and I have been looking at these to replace it - like everyone else I assumed it still had an all leather strap like my current one. AJuff
This is the reply got . . . . . Thank you for your email regarding your Radley handbag and we're sorry to hear that you are unhappy with it. We used to do a fully leather strap, but we found that where the strap was being adjusted, this was causing the leather to become brittle and thin after a period of time. We stopped doing the full leather strap around 3 years ago now and therefore, any stocks that were available are now depleted and would be very difficult to replace with. I hope that this clarifies but if there is anything that I can do to help, please feel free to contact us again and we will do all we can to assist further. With kindest regards Radley + Co
AJuff
Well I sent the Radley bag back after seeing afrind of mine with a Radley bag the same but in a different colour. (I've never noticed before!) The nylon webbing had frayed which made my mind up. So back to John Lewis it went and back to the internet to find another. I'm rather pleased as I found an across the shoulder bag in black similar to Radley, not a brand make with a full leather strap for half the price. Plus when I bought it I got a brown leather shoulder bag for 1p! https://esecurepayments.co.uk/epages/eshop384899.sf/seczZgy0y8_NfE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/eshop384899/Products/%22301%20Black%22 https://esecurepayments.co.uk/epages/eshop384899.sf/seczZgy0y8_NfE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/eshop384899/Products/%22263%20Brown%20CS%
Looney
1p! That's brilliant. Well worth it if you intend on spending over £25 anyway Must remember that site when I need a new handbag
