patsylabrador
I've brought a little spindly one back from the allotment and thought I'd plant it in the run. It will improve their environment and I read that it deters various flies etc. Is there any reason I shouldn't? I've put crushed leaves in their coop before to deter pests and it didn't seem to bother them. I can't imagine it would taste nice enough to eat, they ignore the sage and curry plant, but stripped a thyme bush bare within hours. I'm not worried about it getting large, that's never an option for anything I plant.

Stevie
Gum trees are fantastic at detering gnats and some insects.Theres nothing toxic or nasty in them which can do chooks any harm.
