It is one of my all time favourite reads,& I dig it out for another go every so often anyhow,so it was a pleasure to read it again I love the way the characters are written,& I love the way it make death not seem so bad after all. I first read it as I was losing a close family member,& it helped me to come to terms with the loss,I think. I found it very comforting. In many ways I guess its a simple book, short & easy to read, but it conveys such a wonderful message that I recommend it to people all the time. Seagazer Posted April 8, 2010 Share Posted April 8, 2010 Sorry - I've had to have a quick read through again as I read this in February and so had forgotten some things. I really enjoyed this book, its only a short book but the author manages to portray lots of emotion, particularly when Eddie meets his beloved wife and then the little girl Tala. It was an easy read. It seems a shame that Eddie thought his life was worthless as he'd never left the fairground, he was obviously unfullfilled. I think I will definitely try to read Tuesdays with Morrie. I loved the way that everthing is explained to Eddie, the look of the person, the location, including his wife changing the way she looked because she thought he would prefer the younger version. I liked the way that his body changed with the experiences too - starting as a young boy to grow older with each new person. chickencam Posted April 9, 2010 Share Posted April 9, 2010 I loved this book too. I read it when I was in cornwall last Easter. It was a quick read but quite profound. One of the things that really made an impression on me was the way that seemingly trivial things for one person can be life changing for others. I got my OH to read it and he wasn't that fussed. I have got For One More Day on my shelf and I have been keeping an eye open for Tuesdays with Morrie too. I have so many books to read at the moment. I'm possibly about to submerge myself into ''A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS' although as I've heard its such a powerful, poignant read I've been hesitating thinking maybe not sensible to read right now when theres so much grief, anxiety etc in our daily lives.
