Tutti Frutti
Do they both have feathery feet? Feathery feet are lovely but personally, I have a feeling I'd find it difficult to keep the girls clean (although my girls are now on Aubiose so perhaps not such a big problem as when they were on soggy woodchip? )
Plum
I thought it was cochins with fluffy feet and orps not. I would choose the orp. No reason I just love the look of them
chelsea
Cochin & Brahma have feathered legs.
tom123
Brahmas are taller, slightly slimmer girls. A lot more posh looking, looking down there noses at everyone! Orpingtons are large, round and very fluffy. A little bit more cuddly but don't look at stately as the Brahmas. Brahmas and Cochins have feathery feet. I haven't found the feathers to be a problem as mine live on grass.

The email went on to say that they're around on wednesday and thursday. Quick!!!!!!!
jellykelly
Oh - Brahma is 22 weeks and will be laying soon - buff orp is 30 weeks and in full lay. I have their contact details if your interested. BTW - these are not the people I got my new hens from today.
foreveryoung
hummmmmmmmmm still not sure which to go for.... I want to get two new girls, but i want them to be different from my original girls (I want to start having a couple different breads)
Janty
I have five brahmas and two cochins and I've never had a problem with their feathery feet. The pekins need regular checks as they get mud balls all the time but I've never had this problem with the big girls. I'd go with brahmas. They are gentle giants who don't cause any problems but mine intervene when the bluebell starts squabbling. My favourite breed.
