Had a very funny moment with the girls today. I opened the conservatory door this afternoon to talk to the girls, they all rushed over and came into the conservatory.

 

My mirror from the lounge is in there at the moment as I haven't hung it back up after decorating and all three girls came across the mirror and started looking at themselves, they all looked hypnotized.

 

Poppy stood very tall and kept giving herself the evil eye and making strange noises.

 

Then Betty had a go and stood up very tall and wouldnt come away from the mirror.

 

Next my oldie Nelly she was there for at least five mins just staring, wish I had took a picture but didnt want to move just in case I distracted them.

 

 

It was really funny to watch them, never seem them act like that before.

Where I got my new girls from today told me to hang up a cd for them - apparently they love the reflections it makes as it moves

Why don't you hang a mirror in their run - it'll keep them quiet if nothing else .

My girls have a mirror in the run, some of them like it, most of them ignore it.

I have a mirror tile in their area and after one peck they have ignored it.

I had a CD in the chooks run when I first got them...........they avoided it at all costs....rather like skirting an unexploded bomb so I removed it

I have heard that hanging cd's helps keeps foxes away. Maybe they think the movement could be a person?

So if your chickens like mirrors then it could be a winner in more ways than one.

I put my mirror flat on the floor and Rogina tried to drink it She did the 'head tip back' action and then noticed she hadnt actually drank anything
