Purplemaniacs
Has anyone been to Merrydale Poultry recently, I have emailed Karen and not had a reply, which is very unusual as she has always been very prompt in the past. I was hoping to get some new girls from her, Ivory and Latte were from her. Thanks Chrissie
Redwing
I dont know if there are any problems but as I understand it Regency Poultry is the equipment branch of the same company so perhaps that number is worth a try?
Puffin
Some friends of mine went and picked up a couple of chickens over Easter and all was well then - maybe worth phoning them rather than email?
Snowy
The place was open and trading as normal when I passed the other day

Purplemaniacs
Thank you for your replies. I notice Karen has updated her website so it must be just a problem with her email. She now has in the two hybrids that I would like..... I have lots of space in the new cube and WIR, my three are a bit lost in it, (see post in the run section) should I get them some new friends? Old eglu and run empty, just needs cleaning and then ready for introductions What do you think, three new girls? Chrissie
l_ouise
I didn't get a response to an email i sent them a couple of week ago either. I went and picked up some birds last weekend - i got a copper black and a crested and they are both great personalities. To be honest, i thought lots of the chickens looked sniffly - wet beaks and bubbles in their nostrels but i don't know if that is normal or not. One of the birds has been doing weird bright orange poos too since i got it, again i don't know if that is normal. Just check it over yourself imo. Overall happy with the chickens though and they were busy.
Saronne
They have a very good reputation around the east Midlands and I don't believe they would knowingly sell you an unhealthy bird. However, if you buy a hen that clearly becomes unwell in the first week, then let them know! They're very approachable and would put things right. Also make sure you quarantine all new birds for a couple of weeks - for their protection as well as your existing hens'. Saronne x

Orange poos are completely normal, they should only do them every now and again, every so many poos or something - they're deleightfully referred to as 'curry poos'
Purplemaniacs
Two of my three came from there and I was very impressed, Latte took a long time coming into lay and when I contacted Karen she was very helpful. Although when I bought them I had only had chickens for two weeks and was not very knowledgeabIe, I was impressed by her standard of service. This was the reason I wanted to go back there now that I have some space. Is there anywhere else in this part of the country to buy chickens? OH won't want to travel too far and I am being nice to him after he built me such a lovely WIR Chrissie
Snowy
I'd call in tomorrow, then you can have a look round. She has set opening times now and, although it may be busy tomorrow, it will give you time to browse in peace.
