Jules.
Eth won a competition last year through his school. When we ordered his school photograph there was a competition to win an organic " Rocket garden" which contained loads of plug vegetables http://www.rocketgardens.co.uk/ Our Childrens' box arrived today so we've spent some time this evening planting most of it out. It all came in a big cardboard box & was packed with straw. We got lettuces, borlotti & runner beans, carrots, courgettes, pumkins, beetroot, tomatoes, potatoes, spinach, strawberries & peas. We haven't got enough room to plant it all, the recommended planting area is 8 square metres so we put some plants in with our flowers & some are going to hubby's brothers house tomorrow. We will also get some more compost & thin out many of the lettuce & spinach etc, but we just wanted to get them in the ground today so that they wouldn't dry out. Its a bit photo heavy but I just wanted to share with you, as I know you'll understand The plants in their packaging Chickens licking their beaks at the veg Raised bed- we only made this a couple of weeks ago. It's filled with chook poo, aubiose/hemcore & home-made compost Peas & pumpkin with the flowers Borlotti beans in front of the radishes The competition winner himself Flowers- can you see how my poor jasmine plant has been ravaged by the chooks- it's bare around its bottom! And finally a picture of the garden. All the veg is along the left-hand side, which is south facing
