Torrin
Sorry, no, all 4 of mine are laying at the moment. Have you wormed them recently??
tara
Would worming make the difference l did them just before christmas.
Torrin
I think they're suppoesed to be done every 3 months, and yes I believe it can make a difference to laying but I'm by no means an expert - someone more knowedgable is sure to be here soon! tara
Ive just went out and have started the worming just incase.l have noticed runny poos thinking about it but that could be me should we not eat any eggs that might come.
Torrin
I use verm-x which i know you can continue to eat the eggs with. I guess if it's just runny poos and no other signs of illness then eating the eggs (if you're lucky enough to get any!) should be fine
Chucky Mama
If you are worming I would advise that you use Flubenvet which is the only licensed proven wormer for chickens. You can still eat any eggs that they produce during worming.
Chucky Mama
Regarding the lack of eggs: You could make sure that they are eating a good fill of pellets before being allowed out to free range.
Redwing
Perhaps you have an egg eater? some hens will do this and leave no trace Also you may have a two or four legged egg thief
Alis girls
I have 3 hens and 3 laying but only 2 eggs the last 2 days - I think when they free range they fill up on junk and I noticed less eggs if have long outing. I suppose because they are in a lot when I work I feel sorry for them. Today I had 3 eggs again but they free ranged later. When should you worm - I've had them a month? tara
I used Flubenvet and will use it for 7 days l am also treating with coxi plus which is what the vet gave me.
chickyhazel
Shocks can cause lack of eggs - has something changed recently? Are you letting them out earlier or later? Are they getting more or less treats? Has there been a new cat in the garden? With regard to worming, flubebvet is best and worming should be done at least every six months. You should also worm chickens when you get them - give them a week or so for their tummys to settle, then start worming.
tara
Nothing has changed as far as l know they dont get locked away there in a big WIR which is fox proof.Have spoken to a vet and she has said there proberly having a rest and should lay again soon so fingers crossed
hippy chick
I have four ex-bats but only two of them are laying. they haven't stopped at all since i got them in sept. But the other two havn't laid since christmas. One of the non layers did pass a huge lash earlier today, I dont know if this means the end of her egg laying or not.
