wenhen
Evening Put our Cube together yesterday - we have a walk in run so didn't have the mesh run to go with it - I'm a bit dissapointed - it doesn't seem to fit as well as I would like. The non nest box side didn't seem to fit in the gap and there are large gaps around the side. There is a a big gap at the back between the roof and the side. I've got some photos here and have emailed Omlet to ask them if it looks correct to them. http://picasaweb.google.com/103341258462178402451/CubePhotos?feat=directlink Wondering if anyone else had the same problem or any suggestions? Thank you!! (Off to get the 4 new chickens on Saturday - just need to decide upon 4 more names now!)
Olly
That doesn't look right - sorry, I don't have a Cube any more so I can't suggest what may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the roof should fit more snugly than that, and I wonder if something has not been tightened up or not put together right. Someone else on here who's familiar with the Cube construction may be able to help, I know there are some metal brackets that the roof sits on, and I wonder if they are what needs adjusting? Sorry, not much help to you, Omlet may well be able to spot the problem very quickly.
Torrin
If yours is wrong then so is mine - and I've been using it for a year Actually the gaps between the roof and sides aren't quite as big but there is a similar gap between the roof and back - I use it to peer in at the girls in the nest box!! Will be interested to see what Omlet say to you - I've probably built mine totally wrong
The Dogmother
That looks fine to me; it has some spaces built into it to help with ventilation. As Olly has said, the brackets inside are adjustable, so you can tighten it up if you prefer, but it all looks OK to me.
annettec
Mine looks like that and it was put togehter by the nice man from Omlet I must admit I thought it was odd and was initially a little bit concerned but the girls seem ok nice and dry with no leaks so i think it is for the ventilation ! Well I hope so
wenhen
Thanks everyone - very nice to get reassurance from everyone!!! Will have another look at the roof joint this evening. They do seem happy and cosy it it, especially with the cold mornings the last couple of days!
docsquid
Yes, mine has gaps too - perhaps not quite so large as those, but they need the gaps for ventilation and to prevent condensation. You could always send the pictures to Omlet and see what they say.
chuckmum6
The pictures of your cube look normal, compared to mine anyway!
snowcloud
Hello all. I had my cube delivered today and put it together... had the same concerns over the gaps - yours looks just like mine does, so pleased to hear that everyone has the same look. Here is ours... Purplemaniacs
My cube has gaps too, it was put together by the nice Omlet man . As some of you will know I have had mine for almost two years but have only recently used it. I find the roosting bars don't fit very well they seem too short and tend to drop off of their supports, does anyone else find this. I can't really complain to Omlet now as it is rather old!!! I love my eglu still not sure about the cube. Thanks Chrissie
Plum
You could move the walls in slightly, the brackets are adjustable. Would that support the bars better?
MummyHen
I have two cubes at the moment ~ 18mths old and new delivered yesterday. I my opinion the newer one is not as good as the older one. The fit isn't as good and yes the gaps on the two front corners are larger than the same on the older . On the newer some of the joins in the plastic aren’t as 'finished' as the older . Omlet may have had the master moulds redone or changed moulding company/technic - not sure - only they would know. I'm very happy with my new but when I compare the two there are slight differences. Has anyone else with two or more cubes found this?
