Unsecure chicken perches

I was giving our chooks a hug today with my Mum, when Priscilla climbed up my Mum's arm, perched on her shoulder, then pecked and stole her earring!

 

At first we were really scared, because we thought she had swallowed it, and we were trying to prize Priscilla's mouth open to get it out, but then my Mum found the earring on the ground.

 

She's supposed to be a hen not a magpie!

They like to peck at anything shiny - so watch out for necklaces, rings, glasses or red-painted toenails (mine especially love seeing toes through the holes in Crocs! )

Oh yes mine love rings, bracelets, necklaces, buttons, rivets on jeans - anything shiny basically!

 

They've never got close enough to an earring to have a nibble, but I am sure they would given the chance!

Mine also go for any rings, metal watches, necklaces, and yes shiny toenails are very tempting

I made the mistake of wearing crop trousers with those bits of string through the bottom of them that you tie in a bow. All three of my girls thought they were big juicy worms and attacked them, getting the string in their beaks and pulling for dear life I've never worn them since!!!!

Mine likes my watch, my flip flops and my pink toenails - very alrming - I screw my toes up when they come near- I think there is a bit of magpie in mine

mine like my engagement ring, it has two red rubies on it, when Im had feeding them they peck at it, I worry that the stones will come one, not overly worried bout the bird and it will prob go straight through lol
