My WIR is on slabs, this reassures me, as I know it burrow proof I then put hemcore on the slabs

I use Easibed but have used Hemcore too. Both fab .

I intend to slab my run, do you need to keep hemcore/auboise/easibed dry as the run is only partly covered?

My WIR has a railway sleeper boarder infilled with paving slabs on to which I put Aubriose.

Yes, you do. It's very absorbent and will soak up any moisture (good for poos, not so good for rain ). It'll start to get yucky & stinky if allowed to get and stay wet.
