THF Nick
Hi all, I've recently introduced some ex-bats to my flock and apart from a the odd squabble they seem to be getting on famously. However, when of the hens goes through stages of standing next to the cockerel and pecking at his beak. He doesn't seem to mind, it carrys on for quite a while until he either walks away and she gives us. Any ideas what this unusal behaviour is all about? Many thanks Nick Edited May 28, 2010 by Guest

THF Nick
There kissing. Joke. No idea, sorry. Thats what we said this evening when we were watching them. just to add to the amusement after being "kissed" for several minutes Colin (don't ask Mrs Nick thinks it's a great name) left the run and wiped his beak on the grass! I guess he didn't like it!

I guess he didn't like it! The DH does that - well on the back of his hand not the grass - if I've given him a peck wearing lipstick. Pikey
My girls do to my Cockerel. I think its cos there is often food left on the beak and they associated his beak with food as he picks food up to let them know where it is. They are soooooooooo cute Colins a great name for a cockerel
